The business venture is the brainchild of brothers<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/news\/nostalgia\/family-dynasty-heart-liverpools-italian-26644670\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Paolo and Donato Cillo<\/a>, who are best known for their multiple Gran Caffe sites and being at the helm of the city&#8217;s tallest restaurant.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">They have teamed up with Donato\u2019s son Antonio, to deliver what they describe as the \u201ctrue essence\u201d of casual Italian dining.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">The family, originally from Potenza in Basilicata, began building their empire over ten years ago, becoming a staple of the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/whats-on-news\/liverpools-little-italy-families-proud-32259132\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Italian Quarter in Williamson Square.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/09\/0_JS363879626.jpg\" alt=\"Paolo Cillo (far right), owner of Gran Caffe, with staff Tom Costain (far left),and Giuseppe Verde\" loading=\"lazy\"  \/>Paolo Cillo (far right), owner of Gran Caffe, with staff Tom Costain (far left),and Giuseppe Verde(Image: Andrew Teebay)<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Following successful expansions, their <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/all-about\/lark-lane\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Lark Lane<\/a> and Duke Street establishments opened their doors post-Christmas 2023. In January 2025, we saw the Jesse Hartley Way, Park Central also come to life. It is also home to the brand\u2019s signature crispy pizza Romana and focaccia sandwiches, with the bread provided by<a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.liverpoolecho.co.uk\/whats-on\/food-drink-news\/gallery\/family-incredibly-proud-liverpool-empire-31270229\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\"> Paolo and Donato\u2019s brother Carmine, who has his own bakery and bakes fresh every day.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"liverpoolecho\">Located on Richmond Street, as part of the Italian Quarter, Farina prides itself on offering an authentic taste of Italy in the heart of Liverpool.
