SINGAPORE \u2013 Members of the public will not be allowed to carry out aerial activities like kite-flying, and flying drones or other unmanned aircraft within a temporary restricted area during the F1 season.<\/p>\n
The restrictions are aimed at ensuring people\u2019s safety and of low-flying helicopters that will be carrying out for aerial filming of the race, said the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) in a statement on Sept 29.<\/p>\n
The restricted area will be in effect from 2.30pm to midnight on Oct 2, 4.30pm to 12.30am from Oct 3 to Oct 4, and 4pm to 1.30am from Oct 4 to Oct 6.<\/p>\n
During these times, people are required to obtain a permit from CAAS if they wish to carry out any aerial activities inside the restricted area, which extends from ground level to 1,219m above sea level.<\/p>\n
Anyone found conducting aerial activities within the restricted area without the required permits can face a fine of up to $20,000 for the first offence, and a fine of up to $40,000 or imprisonment of up to 15 months, or both, for subsequent offences.<\/p>\n
Existing restrictions on aerial and unmanned aircraft activities within 5km of aerodromes, danger areas, prohibited areas, restricted areas and protected areas, such as Orchard and City Hall, will still be in effect.<\/p>\n
