A family in Belfast has been left \u201cnumb\u201d after the passing of their 20-year-old relative in Spain, after he suffered a heart attack.<\/p>\n

A model and a DJ who also played American football for Belfast Trojans, Will Chidubem Nnadikawe was originally planning on returning home from Barcelona this Friday.<\/p>\n

However, the young man, originally from Belfast, suffered sudden arrhythmia while on a train with his girlfriend. The cardiac episode left his brain without oxygen for 18 minutes while a medic who happened to be on the train performed CPR.<\/p>\n

He later slipped into a coma and was on life support.<\/p>\n

After six days, Will sadly passed away on Sunday, September 28. He was surrounded by family, with his mother Amelia along with sisters Charlize and Kayla.<\/p>\n

Organ Donation Week – D\u00e1ith\u00ed Mac Gabhann’s dad encourages people to join the organ donor register <\/p>\n

A fundraiser had initially been set up by family friend, Bronagh Christie to aid with medical costs and family expenses while in the Spanish city. The goal of the fundraiser was \u00a311,000 and reached almost \u00a37,000.<\/p>\n

Now, the funds which were raised will go on to cover expenses incurred by the family themselves and the funeral.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s with a heavy heart I have to give this update but sadly Will has lost his fight for life,\u201d Bronagh wrote on the GoFundMe page.<\/p>\n

\u201cHis mother Amelia and sisters Charlize and Kayla are numb with pain and totally heartbroken.<\/p>\n

\u201cOn her behalf I want to thank each and every person who donated to this fundraiser to help Will and his family.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe money raised will now go towards and expenses she has incurred so far and the funeral costs. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for the support shown.\u201d<\/p>\n
