According to The Tablet, King Charles III<\/a> is about to embark on a trip to Italy next month to meet with Pope Leo XIV with the intentions of celebrating the Vatican\u2019s Jubilee Year of Hope. <\/p>\n

As the National Catholic Register noted, a statement from the King and Queen of England read that the royals will \u201c\u2026join His Holiness Pope Leo XIV in celebrating the 2025 Jubilee Year<\/a>.\u201d The statement further said that these celebrations are \u201ctraditionally marked every 25 years.\u201d <\/p>\n

Together, the royals and head of the Catholic Church will \u201ccelebrate the ecumenical work by the Church of England and the Catholic Church, reflecting the jubilee year\u2019s theme of walking together as \u2018Pilgrims of Hope.’\u201d <\/p>\n

Charles, who is the head of the Anglican Church, may have to comment on whoever is chosen to become the next Archbishop of Canterbury if the selection is made public prior to the visit with Leo. While the Catholic Church will not ordain women as bishops, deacons or priests, the Church of England could end up with a female Archbishop, as The Tablet noted. This could potentially bring about interesting religious discussions between the two leaders. <\/p>\n
