Iconic Bristol music<\/a> venue Motion has officially announced the date it will open its brand new site in the city. In a post to Instagram on September 29, the team gave a sneak peek of what the new venue looked like inside before work began to transform it into Motion’s future home.<\/p>\n

The post contained just four photos of the warehouse-esque building, with the caption: “First look. New venue loading… Opening weekend 10th & 11th October”.<\/p>\n

With some of the images showcasing large windows in the new building, in the comments section, the team added: “These photos are pre-renovation. Rest assured, we have a complete plan to safety proof the windows to ensure the venue is completely secure.”<\/p>\n

Fans were quick to share their excitement at the preview and announcement. One message said: “Like a phoenix rising”, while a second wrote: “Getting me eMotional”.<\/p>\n

The latest post comes just under a week after the team shared a short video of an aerial view of the building in Bristol, writing: “A new home for music. A new space for Bristol. Motion’s next chapter is coming soon.<\/p>\n

“The wait is almost over. A new space. A new era. Bristol… are you ready?”<\/p>\n

In the comments, more fans shared their excitement and, when asked where the new venue was located, the official MotionBristol Instagram account confirmed it was number 2 Victoria Terrace, in the St Philips area. BristolLive reported on the new venue’s address in August<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Motion, which has been a staple of Bristol’s music scene for almost 20 years, confirmed late last year that it was to close<\/a> listing a number of reasons, including economic pressures, changing regulations and the property being put up for sale. Despite some lingering hope to begin with, the weekend of July 18-20 was its last at its original location, marking the occasion with a ‘funeral’ for the venue<\/a>, complete with coffin and floral wreaths, as well as a 24-hour party featuring the return of the first ever artist to perform here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Managing director Dan Deeks spoke to BristolLive back in July<\/a>, ahead of its final weekend, and said that the team at Motion had found a new location and so the Motion days may be over at the iconic venue on the Feeder Road, but a new chapter is dawning – and it won’t be too far away from the original site.<\/p>\n

Dan said: “It’s happening. We’ve got another site very close by, and we’ll be revealing the details of it very soon. That came about through the community and people coming together and being very very understanding.<\/p>\n

“We’re obviously really upset about losing the Motion site. It does come with a lot of constraints because it’s listed and we are very ambitious with what we want to do and how we want to do things.<\/p>\n

“But ultimately, we are very grateful to our landlords for the opportunity there. I think they’ve been massively supportive of all our crazy ideas. But for us now it’s a new chapter and we want to keep the spirit of Motion alive and keep it moving into the future.<\/p>\n

“The new site is much more favourable in the long term and the longevity of it will be much more in our control. We’ll test out the best way forward through events, and we’re really excited for what’s to come.”<\/p>\n
