{"id":462375,"date":"2025-09-30T06:21:11","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T06:21:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/462375\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T06:21:11","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T06:21:11","slug":"khasi-cymru-music-artistes-to-perform-in-wales-for-a-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/462375\/","title":{"rendered":"Khasi Cymru Music artistes to perform in Wales for a month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Shillong, Sept 30: The Khasi Cymru Music from Shillong is visiting Wales as part of a cultural exchange programme, and the musicians will be performing there for a month.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking to Meghalaya Monitor on the phone from Wales, Balasiewdor Ryntathiang said the group arrived on September 25 and already had a performance at the Thomas Jones Presbyterian Church.<\/p>\n<p>The song that they performed was Na Ri Ba Jngai. It is a tribute composition by Aijingkmen Janong and \u00cfateilang Lyngdoh Sangriang, performed by Khasi Cymru Music, comprising Aijingkmen Janong, Barnadien Lapherna Lyngdoh Mawnai, Balasiewdor Ryntathiang, Livandi Bateilang Kharkongor, and Risaka Nancy Pyrbot.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis song honours Thomas Jones, the pioneering missionary from the Presbyterian Church of Wales who introduced the Khasi alphabet, earning him the title \u2018Father of the Khasi Alphabets\u2019. It expresses gratitude to God for sending him to bring education and Christianity to the Khasi people, profoundly shaping their identity in faith\u00a0and\u00a0learning,\u201d Ryntathiang explained.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier, Janong visited Wales for a solo performance, and \u201che did a great job\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis time, we are all performing here, and it is a really special occasion for all of us. We are grateful to all our supporters and everyone back home,\u201d said the young musician, an alumnus of Martin Luther Christian University.<\/p>\n<p>The Khasi-Cymru Collective is a cultural and musical collaboration between the Khasi and the Welsh. Welsh musician Gareth Bonello has been coordinating with Khasi musicians and recording their songs. Na Ri Ba Jngai will also be recorded as part of the collective.<\/p>\n<p>Talking about the exchange programme, Ryntathiang said the initiative helps in cultural preservation and helps musicians understand the music rooted in their tradition.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis exchange programme between two cultures calls for innovation and creativity.
