A woman launched a foul-mouthed and racist tirade at police officers who came to her help.<\/p>\n
On February 23 last year, officers spotted a man assaulting Chloe Whelan, 36, in a car, by pulling her hair and slapping her, and immediately arrested him on Minshull Street in Manchester city centre<\/a>.<\/p>\n However, as they were restraining him on the ground, she got out of the driver\u2019s seat and \u2018leapt\u2019 at one of the officers, \u2018wrapping her hands around his head\u2019.<\/p>\n She was arrested for assaulting an emergency worker, during which she was verbally abusive, calling the officers: ‘N***ces\u2019 and stating: \u201cI\u2019ll punch every one of your heads in.\u201d<\/p>\n Sign up to the MEN Court newsletter here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n After around a quarter of an hour, another officer arrived in a police van to take Whelan to the police station. As the female officer went to search Whelan, she was met with \u2018vile\u2019 abuse.<\/p>\n Whelan began: \u201cDo you want to feel my vagina? It\u2019s what Manchester police do. I\u2019ve got loads of coke in my vagina, I\u2019m a cocaine dealer.\u201d<\/p>\n She then said: \u201cYou little Islam girl, I bet you Allah loves you, doesn\u2019t he,\u201d and: \u201cGet the coke out of my vagina, Muslim girl.\u201d When the other officers told her to stop, she said she \u2018didn\u2019t give a f***\u2019.<\/p>\n The officer completed the search of Whelan before putting her in the back of the van. She recorded Whelan saying the following as she drove back to the station: \u201cAllah will send you to hellfire\u2026 P*** go back to your country\u2026 Hope you and your kids get raped\u2026 We let these terrorists come into our country\u2026 If this is what I pay my taxes for, people like you.\u201d<\/p>\n Prosecutor Helen Longworth said Whelan was intoxicated at the time, and her language deteriorated to the point it became \u2018inappropriate and racist\u2019.<\/p>\n And the female officer said: \u201cAs I searched her, she was verbally abusive and the comments were repeated. The judgement based on my skin colour and my race, it was implied I was dangerous and a deviant to the community.<\/p>\n \u201cI was very disheartened and shocked. It\u2019s something that\u2019s never happened to me before. I was transferring her back and she was still being verbally abusive.\u201d<\/p>\n Ms Longworth said that Whelan had a previous conviction for racially aggravated disorder, when she made threats and racist comments about a child. She also became aggressive towards the headteacher who feared he would be assaulted.<\/p>\n Caitlin McLachlan said Whelan was \u2018highly embarrassed and ashamed\u2019. She said she was undergoing medical treatment at the time and became reliant on alcohol as a \u2018coping mechanism\u2019.<\/p>\n \u201cSince that evening in February she has abstained from alcohol,\u201d Ms McLachlin said.<\/p>\n She said Whelan was remorseful and had undertaken Islamic studies and undergone counselling.
