{"id":462830,"date":"2025-09-30T10:30:15","date_gmt":"2025-09-30T10:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/462830\/"},"modified":"2025-09-30T10:30:15","modified_gmt":"2025-09-30T10:30:15","slug":"plans-for-31-storey-office-building-approved-at-130-fenchurch-street","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/462830\/","title":{"rendered":"Plans for 31-storey office building approved at 130 Fenchurch Street"},"content":{"rendered":"<ul>\n<li class=\"ck-list-marker-bold\" data-list-item-id=\"ece4d67d60cb75c12b12a70a0e980f601\">\n<p style=\"margin-left:54pt;text-align:center;\"><strong>Over 57,000 square metres of new A-Grade office space<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ck-list-marker-bold\" data-list-item-id=\"ea91a0c28dffd5da49e9e4a4a27c9b469\">\n<p style=\"margin-left:54pt;text-align:center;\"><strong>1st stage of new pedestrian north-south route through to Leadenhall Market<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li class=\"ck-list-marker-bold\" data-list-item-id=\"eb716e53df6aee5c89c6b3950a1c27545\">\n<p style=\"margin-left:54pt;text-align:center;\"><strong>Over 300,000 sqm of office space approved so far in 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The City of London Corporation\u2019s Planning Applications Sub-Committee has, today, unanimously approved plans for a 31-storey officer tower at 130 Fenchurch Street.<\/p>\n<p>Formerly known as Fountain House, the new building features a staggered, \u201cjewel-like\u201d design, giving it a distinct architectural character, nestling within the Square Mile\u2019s cluster of skyscrapers, to respect the views of local heritage buildings St Paul\u2019s Cathedral and Tower of London.<\/p>\n<p>130 Fenchurch Street will provide 57,491 sqm of much needed, Grade-A office space, as the City Corporation seeks to deliver a minimum of 1.2m sqm net floorspace, by 2040, with the building to accommodate approximately 3,610 jobs, in total.\u00a0Demand for sustainable, best-in-class office space in the City\u00a0has surged in recent years, with vacancy rates in newly constructed buildings falling to 0.5 per cent, according to Knight Frank.<\/p>\n<p>The approval of 130 Fenchurch marks the seventh office building providing over 50,000 sqm of floorspace in 2025, with over 300,000 sqm approved this year, in total.*<\/p>\n<p>The City Corporation is set to attend Expo Real in Munich** next week, one of Europe\u2019s premier real estate conferences, to forge partnerships with organisations that are seeking to take advantage of this surging demand for office space and who share its vision for driving sustainability, to future proof the City\u2019s real estate.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the ground floor of 130 Fenchurch Street features 300 sqm of public space, including food, drink\u00a0and retail outlets. The City\u00a0will also welcome a new external garden terrace, on the 20th\u00a0storey. In line with City policy, this elevated public space will be free to visit, seven days a week, offering spectacular public views for workers, residents\u00a0and visitors alike. City roof gardens, terraces, and viewing galleries are already a magnet for the public, with those already established welcoming over 40 million visitors.<\/p>\n<p>As a further measure to improve the walking and \u2018wheeling\u2019 experience through the Square Mile, the developers have committed to delivery of the 1st\u00a0stage of a new pedestrian, north-south route, connecting Fenchurch Street with Leadenhall Market, Cullum Street and the Lime Street Estate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Chairman of the City of London Corporation Planning and Transportation Committee, Tom Sleigh, said:<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201c130 Fenchurch captures our ambition to unlock growth: a striking new workplace in the heart of the City, with routes and views that open up the City for everyone.
