Jorgen Strand Larsen has opened up on a \u2018turbulent\u2019 transfer window that saw Newcastle United<\/a> fail in two attempts to sign him.<\/a><\/p>\n The Wolves striker emerged as a serious target for the Magpies as they looked to replace Liverpool-bound Alexander Isak.<\/p>\n The Norwegian international had a superb first season in the Premier League, scoring 14 times after a loan move from Celta Vigo.<\/p>\n Wolves took up the option to make his move permanent in the summer, signing him for a bargain \u00a323million as part of the original agreement, and could have made a healthy profit when Newcastle came knocking.<\/p>\n Eddie Howe is a big admirer of the forward and, with deals for Yoane Wissa and others stalling, Strand Larsen became No 1 choice.<\/p>\n However, bids of \u00a350m and then \u00a355m were rejected by Wolves, who felt they didn’t have enough time to source a replacement with only a few days of the window remaining.<\/p>\n Strand Larsen was rewarded with a new contract until 2030<\/a>, despite having only just signed one, and has opened up on a difficult summer by insisting he’s not disappointed that a move didn’t come off – but feels there is still time for him to join a Champions League club.<\/p>\n \u201cEveryone wants to take new steps,” he said to VG<\/a> after Wolves’ draw against Tottenham Hotspur. “It was a Champions League club that was being talked about. But it will happen again and it will continue.<\/p>\n \u201cThe important thing is that the club showed confidence in me afterwards and we solved that in a good way [with the new contract].<\/p>\n \u201cIt has been turbulent this summer. Personally, I think it was great to be done with it.<\/p>\n \u201cOf course you are a little affected, everyone has a dream of taking new steps.<\/p>\n \u201cAt the same time, I feel very safe and good here at Wolves. I got the captain\u2019s armband today [for the match against Spurs] and I feel that I am important to the team.<\/p>\n \u201cBut at the same time, you want to take new steps when you\u2019re doing well.<\/p>\n \u201cThe more years I do well at Wolves, the better my chances are in the future.<\/p>\n \u201cWe all have contracts but at the same time it\u2019s important that clubs and players manage to have a proper dialogue.\u201d<\/p>\n Newcastle United’s huge 2025-26 season is well under way and we’ll be with them every step of the way.
