The words \u2018F*** you Allah\u2019 was sprayed on the bus stop on West Street in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bedminster\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bedminster<\/a>, in front of the job centre at some point before Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Police have been alerted, and the graffiti has been reported to <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-council\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol City Council<\/a>, which is responsible for maintaining bus stops, but a group of local residents did try to clean off the graffiti themselves on Monday evening.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">A spokesperson for Way Out West, the community group made up of local residents and business owners, expressed shock at the vandalism, and said messages of this nature should not be tolerated. \u201cIt\u2019s shocking and totally unacceptable. We\u2019re a <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/gallery\/south-bristol-street-filled-union-10489859\" target=\"_blank\" aria-label=\"multi-cultural community in West StreetLink opens in a new tab.\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">multi-cultural community in West Street<\/a>, and there is no place for this in our community at all,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\u201cIt\u2019s just pure Islamophobia and racism. I\u2019m worried about the Somali mums who walk their children to school every morning past this, and the business owners who are serving the community along this road,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\u201cIt\u2019s uncomfortable and horrible, and it needs dealing with as soon as possible. This contributes to feelings of worry and threat which is not how we want our community to feel,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Cllr Emily Clarke (Lab, Bedminster) said the recent increase in hate crime incidents across Bristol is &#8216;appalling&#8217;. \u201cI\u2019m really saddened to see Islamophobic graffiti in our community,&#8221; she said. &#8220;Bedminster is a welcoming community, where people look out for their neighbours regardless of their religion or race.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">&#8220;The recent increase in hate crime incidents across Bristol is appalling. I understand that many people will be feeling frightened about what is going on and the future.
