More than 200 friends and relatives turned out to remember a much-loved Birmingham dad killed in a hit-and-run crash.<\/p>\n

Balloons were tonight, Tuesday, September 30, released at the spot outside Longbridge railway station where Daniel Hanson, 34, was fatally struck by a car which West Midlands Police said left the scene.<\/p>\n

He was given treatment at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to hospital but died after the collision, which happened at 11.15pm on Sunday, September 21.<\/p>\n

A minute’s silence was also held tonight and house music was played out later.<\/p>\n

Friends and family have left bouquets, balloons, cards and messages attached to railings on Longbridge Lane.<\/p>\n

His cousin Zara Wright, 44, told BirminghamLive: “He was so bubbly and full of life.<\/p>\n

“It’s been such an emotional situation. We’re going to have a drink and celebrate his life.”<\/p>\n

Daniel, who was a chef, had moved from Handsworth to Longbridge months before the tragedy.<\/p>\n

His partner Sinead said: “He was loved by everyone who knew him. There are so many people here, it’s an amazing tribute to him.”<\/p>\n

A 40-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.
