\n\tAimee Lou Wood<\/a> doesn\u2019t regret criticizing Saturday Night Live<\/a> over their parody of her character on The White Lotus<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tIn April, the sketch comedy series aired a spoof entitled The White POTUS<\/a>, which was a pretaped sketch that saw characters from season three of the hit HBO series swapped out with President Donald Trump, his family and members of his cabinet. In the bit, Sarah Sherman portrayed Wood\u2019s role of Chelsea from the show, wearing a dramatized pair of fake teeth and said, \u201cFluoride, what\u2019s that? Oh look, a monkey!\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tWood went on to share on her social media that she found \u201cthe SNL<\/a> thing mean and unfunny,\u201d which led to an apology from the show<\/a> and Sherman to send her flowers<\/a>. Now, looking back on the controversy in an interview with BBC News<\/a>, the Emmy-nominated actress<\/a> said she doesn\u2019t regret calling out the show for the sketch.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI don\u2019t regret saying it because it was breaking a pattern, which is what I would usually do \u2014 what I did when I was younger and got bullied,\u201d Wood said. \u201cNo matter what chaos came from it, I\u2019m still happy for me and my personal journey that I said something.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI have a choice here to go in and be embarrassed about it and just say \u2018I didn\u2019t like that. It was mean,\u2019\u201d Wood said of what she thought after seeing the sketch. \u201cI\u2019ve gone into meetings with directors that I\u2019ve admired and burst into tears and not been able to say a word and I think that kind of urge is always to correct, to say \u2018I\u2019m so sorry that I just did something messy\u2019 and actually you didn\u2019t do anything wrong.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tReflecting on backlash<\/a> related to her parodying Wood, Sherman said she \u201cobviously never meant to hurt anyone\u2019s feelings.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n
