Royal author Katie Nicholl told The Mirror<\/a> that William, 43, knows \u201cthe public need to fall in love with George as a youngster\u201d.<\/p>\n She added that he \u201ccan\u2019t be kept under lock and key and only introduced when he\u2019s 18\u201d.\u00a0<\/p>\n George and his younger siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, haven\u2019t been in the spotlight too much as children. They\u2019re usually seen during King Charles\u2019 official birthday parade Trooping the Colour and the royals\u2019 Christmas walk to Church each year. <\/p>\n And, at mum Princess Kate\u2019s annual festival carol concert. George and Charlotte, 10, have attended Wimbledon matches and football games, too. Both have cheered on the England national team, while the former has appeared to follow his dad in supporting Aston Villa<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n But aside from these events, and one-offs like King Charles\u2019 coronation in 2023 and the 80th anniversary celebrations for VE Day this year, they don\u2019t make a lot of public appearances.<\/p>\n Indeed, George\u2019s first solo event with his parents was a meeting with World War II veterans at a VE Day tea<\/a> in May. It\u2019s thought he\u2019ll gradually take part in more similar engagements as he gets older.\u00a0<\/p>\n \u201cWilliam doesn\u2019t want George to have the same level of exposure he and Prince Harry had as kids,\u201d Nicholl said. \u201cSo it has to be done very carefully.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cHow do you explain it to a 12-year-old?\u201d royal expert Duncan Larcombe asked about George\u2019s royal fate. \u201cTheir closeness will be invaluable as George tries to process the fact he isn\u2019t quite normal. He\u2019s going to be king, he will be front page news all his life. That would be hard for anyone to get their head around, let alone a boy of his age.\u201d<\/p>\n The king \u2018had concerns before George was born\u2019<\/p>\n William has his own future as king to think about too, particularly in light of Charles\u2019 cancer diagnosis in 2024. According to Nicholl, the crown will \u201cnever have felt closer\u201d to William<\/a> than it does at the moment, though she added that, while he naturally wants his father to be around for much longer, he\u2019s \u201cabsolutely prepared\u201d to be monarch.\u00a0<\/p>\n Charles, meanwhile, reportedly had some concerns over the future of the monarchy<\/a> ahead of George\u2019s birth in 2013. According to royal author Valentine Low\u2019s book, Power and the Palace, he was worried about what it would mean if Kate gave birth to a girl.\u00a0<\/p>\n Months before George was born in July 2013, the Succession to the Crown Bill was passed. The law meant that gender wouldn\u2019t play a part in determining the line of succession. So, younger brothers wouldn\u2019t overtake their elder sisters. When Prince Louis was born, for instance, he didn\u2019t overtake Charlotte.<\/p>\n Per Low\u2019s book, Charles was concerned that the royal house name of Windsor could change if he had a granddaughter who became queen and married. And, as the monarch is head of the Church of England too, he reportedly \u201chad questions\u201d regarding procedure if the granddaughter married a Catholic.<\/p>\n![\"Prince](\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/coverimages54917178-1-1024x683.jpg\")
