Nicole Kidman<\/a> has filed for divorce from Keith Urban<\/a> after 19 years of marriage. <\/p>\n

Kidman petitioned on Tuesday to end the marriage in a Nashville<\/a> court. The filing states the marriage \u201csuffered irreconcilable differences.\u201d<\/p>\n

The 58-year-old Oscar-winning actor and the 57-year-old Grammy-winning country singer, both raised in Australia, met in 2005 at a Los Angeles<\/a> event honoring Australians and were married in Sydney the following year. <\/p>\n

They have two teenage daughters together.<\/p>\n

The marriage was the first for Urban<\/a> and the second for Kidman, who was married to Tom Cruise from 1990 to 2001. Kidman also has two older children with Cruise.<\/p>\n

Last year at the premiere of the Netflix series \u201cThe Perfect Couple,\u201d Kidman told The Associated Press the term didn\u2019t apply to her and Urban. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019re heading for trouble if you consider yourselves the perfect couple,\u201d she said. \u201cI\u2019m not a believer in perfect.\u201d <\/p>\n

A few months earlier, Urban paid tribute to Kidman, and brought her to tears, when she received the AFI Life Achievement Award. <\/p>\n

Urban said she showed him \u201cwhat love in action really looks like\u201d when his substance abuse problems emerged almost immediately after they wed in 2006.<\/p>\n

\u201cFour months into our marriage, I\u2019m in rehab for three months,\u201d Urban said. \u201cNic pushed through every negative voice, I\u2019m sure even some of her own, and she chose love. And here we are 18 years later.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kidman\u2019s film roles have included \u201cDays of Thunder,\u201d \u201cEyes Wide Shut,\u201d \u201cMoulin Rouge\u201d and \u201cThe Hours,\u201d for which she won an Academy Award for playing author Virginia Woolf. She has more recently worked in television, including the series \u201cNine Perfect Strangers\u201d and \u201cBig Little Lies,\u201d for which she won Emmys as both actor and producer. <\/p>\n

Urban has been a major country star since the 1990s, with hits including \u201cSomebody Like You\u201d and \u201cBlue Ain\u2019t Your Color.\u201d He has won four Grammy Awards and more than a dozen Academy of Country Music Awards. <\/p>\n

Their split was first reported by TMZ. <\/p>\n
