A man was reported after fleeing a van which left a ‘woman and small baby behind.’<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> said the clone plated van had no insurance, tax, or MOT in Wolverhampton, while officers made a referral to children\u2019s safeguarding services.<\/p>\n

It was among scores of recent incidents dealt with by the force’s Roads Policing Unit.<\/p>\n

Others include a bright green Lamborghini stopped on the M42 having no front number plate and MOT.<\/p>\n

While a stolen Land Rover was stopped just minutes after being taken from Edgbaston<\/a>. Police said a 20-year-old man was arrested and later charged.<\/p>\n

In a statement, police said: “Our dedicated Roads Policing Unit officers are working 24\/7 to keep you safe and to prevent crime.<\/p>\n

“We know that vehicle theft causes concern in communities across the West Midlands, and our Roads Policing Unit (RPU) officers play a key part in helping tackle that.<\/p>\n

“Our Road Crime Team targets serious and organised criminals who use the roads, and in Erdington<\/a>, officers spotted a car on cloned plates which had been stolen in a burglary.<\/p>\n

“Following a pursuit, the car was stopped and a knife was seized.<\/p>\n

“A 30-year-old man has since been charged with a variety of offences including burglary, dangerous driving, and possession of a knife.<\/p>\n

“Elsewhere a stolen Land Rover was stopped just minutes after being taken from Edgbaston<\/a>, and a 20-year-old man was arrested and later charged.<\/p>\n

“Within the RPU, our 24\/7 interceptors are working round the clock to protect communities \u2013 and recovered a van on cloned plates in Wolverhampton.<\/p>\n

“A man ran away from the van, which had no insurance, tax, or MOT, leaving a woman and a small baby behind.<\/p>\n

“He has been reported and officers made a referral to children\u2019s safeguarding services.<\/p>\n

“The driver of an eye-catching bright green Lamborghini has also been reported, as the car was spotted by officers on the M42 with no front number plate \u2013 and further enquiries revealed it didn\u2019t have an MOT.<\/p>\n

“The RPU is also committed to tackling car cruising \u2013 where driving is often dangerous and anti-social, and we\u2019ve had some positive results through Operation Hercules.<\/p>\n

“Over the Easter weekend, the Interceptors team deployed to Op Hercules and seized a vehicle following a pursuit.<\/p>\n

“The driver was prosecuted and the vehicle was confirmed to have previously been stolen in a car key burglary.<\/p>\n
