{"id":465019,"date":"2025-10-01T06:02:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-01T06:02:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/465019\/"},"modified":"2025-10-01T06:02:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-01T06:02:13","slug":"rival-supporters-unite-over-criticism-of-elland-road-leeds-united-fans-will-disagree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/465019\/","title":{"rendered":"Rival supporters unite over criticism of Elland Road, Leeds United fans\u00a0will disagree"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Leeds United\u2019s Elland Road atmosphere is one of the most famous in English football.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/club\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds United\u2019s<\/a> expansion and redevelopment of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/elland-road\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elland Road<\/a> has been a long time coming, but the ability to get the plans in motion and a possibility at all is owed to the vocal and loyal Leeds supporters.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/opinion\/leeds-united-fans-compare-sean-longstaff-to-club-legend-after-bournemouth-heroics\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sean Longstaff has praised Elland Road\u2019s atmosphere recently<\/a> after the Bournemouth win, while others, such as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/alan-shearer-seconds-james-justin-claim-about-leeds-united-weapon-that-will-be-key-to-survival\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Alan Shearer, believe Elland Road\u2019s atmosphere is crucial<\/a> to survival in the Premier League.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/everything-we-know-about-leeds-uniteds-elland-road-redevelopment-new-capacity-completion-date-more\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elland Road is to be redeveloped by the 49ers<\/a>. It involves many moving parts but the main priority for Leeds fans will be to ensure that they are able to retain their fierce and intimidating atmosphere.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"700\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-1366085809-1024x700.jpg\" alt=\"Aerial View Of Elland Road Stadium\" class=\"wp-image-63891\" \/>Photo by Joe Prior\/Visionhaus via Getty ImagesRival fans mock Leeds\u2019 Elland Road atmosphere<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/leeds-united-elland-road-expansion-timeline\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds City Council agreed to negotiate a sale of Elland Road land<\/a>, while it\u2019s been said that a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/when-leeds-united-expect-to-hear-final-decision-on-elland-road-expansion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">final decision on Elland Road is imminent<\/a> any time in October now.<\/p>\n<p>Premier League football already means a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/leeds-united-set-for-jaw-dropping-windfall-as-daniel-farkes-side-seal-premier-league-promotion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">significant increase in revenue for Leeds<\/a>\u00a0but\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/how-49ers-expect-the-leeds-united-stadium-expansion-to-go-after-talks-with-the-council\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the 49ers plan to put plenty of that cash into redeveloping Elland Road<\/a>\u00a0into one of English football\u2019s largest stadiums.<\/p>\n<p>The plan is to take\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/how-49ers-expect-the-leeds-united-stadium-expansion-to-go-after-talks-with-the-council\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elland Road\u2019s capacity from 37,792 to closer to 56,000<\/a>.\u00a0That could make Leeds\u2019 home games even louder and more intimidating for away fans and players, not that that isn\u2019t already noticeable currently.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds\u2019 atmosphere has been criticised by rival fans on social media, with a Hull City fan stating: \u201cNow show us the atmosphere when they were in League 1.\u201d<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/GrayStaveley\/status\/1972760007767941213\" rel=\"nofollow\"><\/p>\n<p>MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES<\/p>\n<p>A Man United fan responded: \u201cLeeds have such forced limbs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One Southampton fan posted the above, while another stated: \u201cTheres a good 20.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Ibrox, Celtic Park, Villa Park, The City Ground, Wrexham, Birmingham City, Tynecastle, Easter Road, Tannadice, Stadium of Light, Newcastle, I could keep naming more and more but I got to get back to work. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tvykIAW7jU\" rel=\"nofollow\">https:\/\/t.co\/tvykIAW7jU<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Ryan Evans (@RyanEvans29) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RyanEvans29\/status\/1972691072754069555?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">September 29, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>View Tweet<\/p>\n<p>A Chelsea fan added: \u201cNastiest atmosphere maybe. They have a higher proportion of thoroughly nasty fans than almost any other club. He said: \u201cI\u2019m excited. <\/p>\n<p>The stadium has got one of the best atmospheres in, I don\u2019t know, world football. It is always a daunting task to come here with an opposing team, I am happy to have the fans behind me this time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He has yet to feel it at its best as well, but Leeds\u2019  atmosphere is famous for a reason.
