While the royal siblings may have seemed close growing up, especially after the death of their mum, Princess Diana, this is no longer the case.

Instead, Harry’s various royal revelations over the past five years, since he quit royal life, have pushed the brothers further and further apart, with some believing that all hope of them mending their relationship is now lost. As sad as this is for them, it is also deeply upsetting for their father, King Charles, who, as monarch, could really have done without any family rifts.

While many people seem to think that Harry, 41, and William, 43, should set their differences aside and reunite for their father’s sake, I do not think this is the biggest reason why the royal siblings should solve their issues once and for all.

Instead, as a royal expert, I think Harry and William should try and reunite for one reason – their children.

Both William and Harry are doting dads, with William being a father to Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and Prince Louis, seven, while across the pond, Harry is loving life as a dad to Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

Although both William and Harry’s children are unlikely to know the ins and outs of the rift between the two brothers, it will no doubt impact them, especially in the future.

This is because, as cousins, they could all offer support to one another in the years to come, but instead, William’s children hardly know Archie and Lilibet – who live in California – at all.

While this may not be considered a crucial issue now, it only takes one look at William and Harry’s relationship with their own cousins to show what the royal children could be missing out on.

This is because both brothers get on exceptionally well with their cousins, with William as first-in-line to the throne, even relying on the support of his cousins at times – including Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie – at events such as Buckingham Palace garden parties.

Although not yet working royals, it is likely that one day George, Charlotte and Louis will need people to call on for support. Yes, they will have each other, but where will their royal cousins be?

For this reason alone, I think William and Harry need to find a way to draw a line under their rift and start afresh. If not for themselves, then at least for the sake of their children’s relationships with one another, which could be vital in the future.

And if they don’t think so, all William and Harry need to do is look at just how important their own cousins have been to them.

Prince Harry and Prince William may be brothers, but in reality they couldn’t be further apart.
