Ricky Hatton will be laid to rest at Manchester Cathedral on October 10 following a public funeral procession and his son Campbell says the tributes have helped the family’s grief<\/p>\n

Ricky Hatton\u2019s son Campbell says the family are still trying to come to terms with his father\u2019s unexpected death which has left them \u201cheartbroken\u201d. Boxing<\/a> great Hatton was found dead<\/a> inside his Manchester home on September 14.<\/p>\n

His passing at the age of 46 shocked the world of boxing<\/a> and sparked an outpouring of emotion and tributes. No cause of death has been announced yet, but Greater Manchester Police said his death was not being treated as suspicious and a funeral will take place on October 10<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Campbell, 24, followed in the footsteps of his dad by becoming a professional boxer and was close to him<\/a>. He says the support from the public and tributes to \u2018The Hitman\u2019<\/a> have been a source of great comfort, but the grief is still intense.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are absolutely heartbroken \u2013 it was so unexpected\u2026 We had so many plans coming up, so it has knocked us for six, but obviously we are trying to be there for each other,\u201d Campbell told ITV<\/a> News<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe outpouring of support from absolutely everyone has been amazing, so that’s helping us through a lot \u2013 but yes, absolutely heartbroken.\u201d<\/p>\n

A funeral procession for Hatton will start from Gee Cross, where he lived, and pass through Hyde and head towards Manchester Cathedral before coming to an end at the Etihad Stadium, the home ground of Hatton’s beloved Manchester City.<\/a> The memorial service will take place at Manchester Cathedral and will be ticketed, but the family want to see as many people lining the streets as possible to show their support.<\/p>\n

\u201cThat’s exactly what he would have wanted,\u201d Campbell added. \u201cHe sees his biggest achievement as his fanbase, and that’s what he was most proud of. So what he’d want would be the streets to be full of people…because everything he did, he did for his fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Campbell bears a striking resemblance to his father and says they had a real connection: \u201cHe used to call me his little Mini-Me. We were identical in so many ways, and I think it’s shown through how close we were and the banter we had with each other.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo so many he was Ricky Hatton the boxer, but to me he was just my dad, and to the family, it was Richard. We just can’t get our heads round it at the minute.\u201d<\/p>\n

In an emotional post on social media shortly after his death, Campbell shared photos of the two together and wrote: \u201cEverybody has always said I was your double and never a truer word said. Looked up to you in every aspect of life.<\/p>\n

\u201cCan\u2019t explain how much I\u2019m going to miss the laughs we had and all the good times which I will remember forever. Just can\u2019t believe we won\u2019t have anymore.
