The third Bristol venue from bakery chain Gail’s<\/a> is set to open its doors next week.<\/p>\n Following its first Bristol location – and that of the South West – in Clifton<\/a> Village, which opened in 2024, Gail’s has since opened a second site on Whiteladies Road, in the former home of the Little Dobbies garden centre.<\/p>\n And its third will be located in the former home of Fopp on College Green\/Park Street.<\/p>\n It’s set to open on Thursday, May 1, according to information on its website<\/a>.<\/p>\n The brand, which is known for its artisan sourdough bread, as well as pastries, sandwiches, cakes and speciality house blend coffee, will boast an eat-in area similar to its other Bristol bakeries at this new location.<\/p>\n Gail’s will also be serving up a selection of jams, spreads, crackers, biscuits, coffee, cured meats, cloth-bound cheddar, butter, eggs, and even a selection of gifts – all of which can be purchased in store.<\/p>\n The most recent Gail’s Bristol venue opened in February, just months after the popular high street bakery chain marked the opening of its first venue in the South West.<\/p>\n The already existing Clifton site, which will have been open for a year on Regent Street this May<\/a>, saw out-of-the-door queues on its opening day, as the people of Bristol <\/a>came along to show their support and welcome this popular name to the city.<\/p>\n The bakery has championed several south west producers, such as Shipton Mill <\/a>flour, Quicke\u2019s dairy<\/a> and biodiversity champion Wildpress<\/a>, since its opening.<\/p>\n Despite this, there was much debate on Reddit over the opening of more Gail’s bakery sites in Bristol<\/a>, following the news of the upcoming openings of the College Green and Whiteladies Road branches.<\/p>\n In a post on the Bristol sub-Reddit<\/a>, users shared varying opinions, with the original post saying: “I fear for the independent businesses that make Bristol, Bristol”.<\/p>\n In its defence, some took to comment, with messages of support including one which read: “Supply and demand I guess.<\/p>\n “For the majority of people, being independent is not enough.<\/p>\n “I support them where I can, and rather make my own coffee than have one in a chain, but the number of times I have had burned, generic brew at an independent caf\u00e9 is insane.<\/p>\n “People value consistency, and buying from a chain is always the same.”<\/p>\n Gail’s has bakery branches in various locations across the UK, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Cambridge, and Liverpool.<\/p>\n Want the latest Bristol breaking news and top stories first?
