More than 40 suspects are currently in custody across Birmingham.<\/p>\n

West Midlands Police<\/a> said 44 people are cells in Perry Barr<\/a> and Stechford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The force said it was for a variety of alleged offences including assault, theft, criminal damage, and possession of drugs.<\/p>\n

In a statement, police said: “We’ve more than 40 people in custody as we deal with offences and tackle crime across Birmingham<\/a>.<\/p>\n

“44 people are in our cells in Perry Barr<\/a> and Stechford<\/a> for a variety of offences including assault, theft, criminal damage, and possession of drugs.<\/p>\n

“12 people are being detained over various assault offences, including a 34-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker in Birmingham city centre<\/a> this morning.<\/p>\n

“Separately, a man aged 33 is being detained on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon, after we were called to a disturbance in Aston.<\/p>\n

“We also have a man and a woman in our cells following two separate thefts from shops in the city earlier today.<\/p>\n

“And, after officers spotted a suspected stolen vehicle driving dangerously on the Small Heath<\/a> Highway, we also have a 20-year-old man in custody.<\/p>\n
