Unite said its members, who <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bristol-bus-strike-day-4-10511803\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">caused widespread disruption during a walk-out last month<\/a>, will receive an increase from \u00a316 an hour to \u00a316.50 backdated to April 1.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">This goes up to \u00a317 an hour backdated to September 28. The workers will then have another rise to \u00a317.40 an hour from 1 April 2025. This works out as an 8.6 per cent pay increase over two years.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">Unite general secretary Sharon Graham said: <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/news\/bristol-news\/bristol-bus-drivers-start-ballot-10535123\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">\u201cBus drivers<\/a> do a difficult, important job for the general public and deserve to be paid appropriately. This is a fantastic win for workers at First West of England, who stuck firmly together throughout the industrial action to get the pay offer they deserved.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">\u201cIt is yet more proof that there is power in a union.\u201d Unite said a major source of contention throughout the pay dispute was First West of England not committing to paying drivers backpay.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">To address this, workers at the City Line will get \u00a3250 non-consolidated backpay and their rest day working has gone up by 50p to \u00a31.51 per hour. Drivers at the City Line had previously walked out from 19 to 22 September 19 to 22 causing disruption for both bus users and motorists.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"bristolpost\">The bus drivers work for the Lawrence Hill and <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/hengrove\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Hengrove<\/a> Bus depots, which service <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-city-centre\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol city centre<\/a>, <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.bristolpost.co.uk\/all-about\/bristol-airport\" target=\"\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">Bristol Airport<\/a> and Amazon\u2019s Bristol warehouse and local schools and universities.
