Design, build quality, handling<\/p>\n

Honor Magic V Flip 2 looks like the most recent Flips on the market but Honor has done its fair share of improvements compared to their previous Flip.<\/p>\n

The Magic V Flip 2 is IP58 certified for dust and water protection, as well as IP59 certified for resistance against high pressure water jets. There is also SGS durable-flat certification.<\/p>\n

And while we are talking about durability, Honor says the Flip 2 display can withstand a minimum of 350,000 folds or about 5 years of normal use. And they say that even after 350,000 folds, the crease will be no bigger than 50\u00b5m.<\/p>\n

The UTG (Ultra Thin Glass) glass atop the foldable screen has been upgraded, obviously, and we can confirm the crease is absent in fully opened state. While you can a slight contrast difference under direct light, you cannot feel any deformation.<\/p>\n

Moving on to design and build. The frame is made of aluminum, with a smudge-resistant matte finish. The hinge also features a metal cover, which contains an Honor insignia with a matte finish or a Prof. Jimmy Choo logo surrounded by engraved, shimmering triangles (you can feel them with your nail).<\/p>\n

The 4-inch OLED cover screen is shielded with a tempered glass, while the other half of the exterior is covered with plastic. The two primary cameras are sticking straight out this screen.<\/p>\n

The frame and the hinge, together with this plastic piece, are where the color changes depending on the color version you have chosen.<\/p>\n

Our Jimmy Choo special edition features a subtle crystal shimmer, evoking “crushed stardust scattered across a deep blue sea.” The piece has a matte finish and has a very subtle texture that you can feel when running your nails over it. The phone even has a matching UI theme to this panel.<\/p>\n

Finally, the 6.82-inch foldable LTPO OLED screen has a plastic bezel that’s about 2mm thick. This screen also features a small punch hole for the 50MP selfie camera with autofocus.<\/p>\n

The hinge allows the screen to stay in semi-open state, just like many competing modern clamshells.<\/p>\n

The Magic V Flip 2 has a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, on the power\/lock key. It’s an always-on reader and works flawlessly.<\/p>\n

The phone has a hybrid stereo speaker setup where the earpiece acts as a speaker. There are also five microphones around the phone.<\/p>\n

Oh, and there is an IR blaster at the top, so you can turn your Flip into a universal remote.<\/p>\n

The final bit worth mentioning is the nano-SIM tray at the bottom, which can accommodate two SIM cards. There is no support for eSIM.<\/p>\n

The Magic V Flip 2 measures 167.1 x 75.6 x 6.9 mm and weighs 204 grams. That’s about the same size as the Z Flip7, but 16g heavier, probably due to the lager battery – it’s 5,500 mAh here.<\/p>\n

The Magic V Flip 2 is a durable phone with a classic design and some eye-catching paintjobs. It offers a surprisingly secure grip and we never felt like we needed to slap a case on it. Should you need extra protection, though, Honor has got you covered as there is at least one original case shipping with the phone.<\/p>\n

Overall, we are happy with how the Magic V Flip 2 looks and feels.
