A vision to continue to reshape the \u2018island\u2019 between the Bridgewater and Manchester Ship Canals with a community of 2,600 homes and 35-storey towers has been unveiled.<\/p>\n
Developer Peel Waters has published its plan for the 25-acre Pomona Island, branded Manchester Waters, which includes up to 100 care beds, 200 hotel rooms and student accommodation, for public consultation.<\/p>\n
Already, 500 homes have been delivered to date, with planning permission granted for a further 300, in addition to an apartment hotel.<\/p>\n
To see planning applications; traffic and road diversions and layout changes; and more, visit the Public Notices Portal <\/strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n The public\u2019s views are being sought ahead of the submission of an outline planning application to Trafford<\/a> council.<\/p>\n The latest scheme includes 15 acres of public open space destined to become a dockside park.<\/p>\n Some 75,000sq ft of flexible office and retail space amid the tower blocks are also part of the scheme.<\/p>\n Sign up to the MEN Court newsletter <\/strong>here<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Join our Court and Crime WhatsApp group <\/strong>HERE<\/strong><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n John Matthews Architects, Re-form Landscape Architects and Turley are working with Peel on the application.<\/p>\n Plans can be viewed on the Peel Waters website at https:\/\/www.mcrwatersconsultation.co.uk until October 8.<\/p>\n The Manchester Waters ties in with the Trafford Local Plan, which the town hall has also put out for consultation until November 3.<\/p>\n It focuses on plans for Wharfside, close to Manchester United\u2019s Old Trafford stadium, and Trafford Waters, a new mixed-use development of 3,000 homes on the banks of the ship canal.<\/p>\n This is because Trafford council is required to identify sites for housing, employment, and other purposes until 2042 \u2013 as stipulated by Greater Manchester\u2019s Places for Everyone plan (PfE) \u2013 and national planning policy.<\/p>\n Across Trafford, 80 sites and locations are proposed for residential, employment and leisure development, in addition to sites in Davenport Green \u2013 also known as Timperley Wedge \u2013 and New Carrington<\/a>.<\/p>\n
