He’s nothing if not enthusiastic.<\/p>\n

Not long after markets opened this week, one horse in particular was backed into favouritism in Race 10 at Randwick.<\/p>\n

The name of the horse is Getafix<\/strong> who is trained by Tom Charlton and John O\u2019Shea.<\/p>\n

A winner of his last two starts prior to a spell, Getafix resumes in Saturday\u2019s BM94 sprint over 1200m and there is some early interest.<\/p>\n

Perhaps that has a bit to do with the fact that a key owner is a good friend of SENTrack – Sydney Swans livewire Tom Papley<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Godolphin\u2019s Kerguelen opened a $4.60 favourite before Getafix was quickly turned into $5 after opening at $6.<\/p>\n

On SENTrack & RSN\u2019s Giddy Up, Gareth Hall eluded to Papley\u2019s enthusiasm: \u201cGeez, there\u2019s a good push around for Getafix who goes around in the last.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo you share a few people\u2019s confidence with Getafix there on Saturday? I don\u2019t want to give away names\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n

Co-trainer Charlton\u2019s response: \u201cAs soon as the market opened, just bang, straight away into favourite.<\/p>\n

\u201cI wonder who that was.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hall and Charlton revelled in Papley\u2019s passion for the game and his eagerness to tell all and sundry that Getafix is a great winning chance this weekend.<\/p>\n

Hall:<\/strong> \u201cHe might be a little man who runs around for the Sydney Swans telling everybody it\u2019s a good thing because Tommy Charlton say it\u2019s a moral, just get on boys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlton:<\/strong> \u201cMight be a bloke that plays a bit of footy on the side of his main job.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hall:<\/strong> \u201cHow many times would he ring you, that person?\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlton:<\/strong> \u201cIt\u2019s more the texts in the WhatsApp, bang, bang, straight off.<\/p>\n

\u201cNah, it\u2019s great. I really enjoy Tom and the crew he\u2019s brought to the stable. We have a good laugh and it\u2019s great to see passion about racing in those guys.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m sure it helps our industry no end.\u201d<\/p>\n

Back on the topic of the actual horse himself, Getafix will need a little luck to lob over six furlongs.<\/p>\n

But Charlton is hoping there is enough speed from the likes of Shangri La Spring, Les Vampires, Flying For Fun and Boston Rocks to set things up for his fast-finishing son of Calyx who will jump from barrier 2 under Jason Collett.<\/p>\n

Hall stated: \u201cGetafix seems to be a different horse this prep, since he\u2019s been gelded.\u201d<\/p>\n

Charlton replied: \u201cHe\u2019s probably a confidence horse. He\u2019s a horse you\u2019ve got to ride quite neutral and not do too much on him early as he can over-race.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s got a wicked turn of foot. A soft draw is excellent for him, it really helps. He wants a good speed and he\u2019s probably one of those horses that needs a little bit of luck at some stage in the straight.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re confident that he\u2019s going to be an effective horse this campaign. Ideally he can run well on Saturday in what looks a decent race.\u201d<\/p>\n
