Florian Wirtz<\/a> has struggled to make a telling impact in his first months as a Liverpool player, but the No. 7 has the backing of the shirt\u2019s most legendary occupant.<\/b><\/p>\n

Wirtz took the No. 7 shirt upon his \u00a3116 million move from Bayer Leverkusen<\/a> in the summer and with it came a greater weight of expectation.<\/p>\n

It is fair to say that, with no goals and one assist in his nine appearances so far, the 22-year-old has found difficulty in adjusting to his new surroundings.<\/p>\n

But speaking on the Stick to Football podcast, Liverpool\u2019s legendary former No. 7, Sir Kenny Dalglish<\/a>, insisted Wirtz will soon find form working off Alexander Isak<\/a> and Hugo Ekitike<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhat I think he needs to do, first, is what he\u2019s doing at the moment,\u201d Dalglish explained.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cHe\u2019s great at taking the ball into feet, he\u2019ll open himself up and the pass has beat you but he\u2019s still got control of it.<\/p>\n

\u201cOr he\u2019ll take it the other way past you to go that way and you\u2019ll go this way. He can see what\u2019s in front of him and once he gets it\u2026<\/p>\n

\u201cI saw Isak the other day there, the second half he came on and he was talking to one of the boys about his movement, what he would do.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe boy\u2019s sat listening to him and once they get on the same wavelength\u2026that wee fella could open a can of soup.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dalglish was asked to compare Wirtz\u2019s developing relationship with Liverpool\u2019s two new centre-forwards to that which he enjoyed with Ian Rush<\/a> \u2013 and how long it can take to find an understanding on the pitch.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt could happen right away,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cFor Rushie [and me] it was training, we did it in training. That\u2019s where you learn it first isn\u2019t it?<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd then I told him, I said \u2018Rushie, if there\u2019s a space there, just leave it. I\u2019ll play it and you go for it\u2019. Simple.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo concerns\u201d over Wirtz in Germany<\/p>\n

The player himself has been candid over his lack of goal contributions<\/a> since joining Liverpool, telling Sky Germany last week that \u201csooner or later, I\u2019m sure that things will return to normal.\u201d<\/p>\n

And Wirtz clearly has the backing of those in his native country, with German legend Rudi Voller telling BILD<\/a> he has \u201cno concerns\u201d over him not hitting the heights expected of him at Anfield.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorian shouldn\u2019t let himself get carried away,\u201d Voller, who is now director of the German national team, said.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have no concerns about that: he\u2019ll show the English what he\u2019s made of.<\/p>\n

\u201cFlorian is playing in a new league and a new club. These are normal adjustment problems. Almost every professional has them.<\/p>\n
