A majority of voters in the Liverpool City Region feel worse off than this time last year, according to new polling. The poll of more than 8,000 voters from campaign group 38 Degrees and conducted by Survation, found that for many, the change of government last year<\/a> has not yet resulted in the changes voters have wanted for in their own lives.<\/p>\n

In all constituencies in the Liverpool City Region<\/a>, more people feel worse off than better or the same as last year. This number was highest in Sefton<\/a> Central where 57% report feeling worse off.<\/p>\n

When asked about the NHS\u2019s performance<\/a>, on average the majority (53%) of voters in the Liverpool City Region rated it as \u2018struggling\u2019 and 10% as \u2018not fit for purpose\u2019. 24% of voters thought it was \u2018improving\u2019 and just 7% rated it as \u2018excellent\u2019.<\/p>\n

The poll also looked at the areas voters most urgently want to see government action on, and found that in the Liverpool City Region these are the NHS (42%), followed by cost of living<\/a> (41%), while immigration came third at 36%.<\/p>\n

In eight constituencies, the cost of living was cited as the top voter issue; with the NHS chosen in six constituencies; and immigration first in just two seats.<\/p>\n

CEO of 38 Degrees Matthew McGregor said: “Voters in the Liverpool City Region were crying out for change at last year\u2019s general election, but for too many, the positive change they voted for has yet to take hold in their own lives.<\/p>\n

“With more people feeling worse off than better off than a year ago, and NHS services yet to improve for many of us, no wonder many voters are feeling impatient.<\/p>\n

“But the results of this poll also makes clear that the outcome of the next election is not a foregone conclusion.<\/p>\n

“Voters are looking for big, bold changes, and whilst immigration is on people\u2019s minds, they told us it\u2019s less of a priority than fixing the NHS and easing the cost of living.<\/p>\n

“Setting out ambitious plans that will result in tangible change people experience in their own lives – from being able to quickly and easily see an NHS dentist, to having enough cash left on a Saturday night for a takeaway – could soon shift the dial on how voters in the Liverpool City Region feel as they look ahead to the election.”<\/p>\n
