Disney has officially confirmed that Hulu will go global as a part of the redesigned Disney+ app that\u2019s coming to Google TV and other platforms early next year.<\/p>\n

In a press release<\/a>, Disney explains that, starting on October 8, Hulu will replace Star as its global brand for \u201cGeneral Enterainment\u201d outside of the core Disney brand. And, with that, Disney says to expect a new app \u201cnext year.\u201d<\/p>\n

With this change, and in preparation for a fully integrated unified app experience next year, users will begin to see further integrations of Hulu across the Disney+ app as part of an ongoing and iterative slate of product updates on the homepage and beyond. This includes a series of design and navigation enhancements rolling out over the coming weeks and months \u2014 offering a more dynamic and intuitive experience.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

The new Disney+ app is shown with revamped navigation that includes a top slider with \u201cFor You,\u201d Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN tabs. <\/p>\n

The experience changes based on what tab you\u2019re on, with a fixed navigation bar along the left side for things like search, settings, your watchlist, and more. Disney also says that select content will get badges such as \u201cNew Movie,\u201d \u201cSeason Finale,\u201d etc.<\/p>\n

As mentioned, this new app will be rolling out to platforms like Google TV sometime next year. Disney also teases new \u201cmobile-first and mobile-exclusive experiences\u201d in the pipeline, starting with widgets on iOS.<\/p>\n
