{"id":469259,"date":"2025-10-02T20:02:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-02T20:02:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/469259\/"},"modified":"2025-10-02T20:02:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-02T20:02:12","slug":"m4-swindon-and-bristol-closures-to-cause-substantial-disruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/469259\/","title":{"rendered":"M4 Swindon and Bristol closures to cause &#8216;substantial disruption&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">The night closures between junction 16 and 15 are for re-surfacing work as part of a multi-million pound project, started in June, to improve road conditions on the M4.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">A spokesperson from National Highways said: &#8220;This essential work will maintain and improve safety for everyone using the road, and reduce the need for unplanned closures.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Meanwhile, the weekend closure, between junctions 18 and 19, is to allow for the next stage of the Badminton Road Bridge project.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">Due to be open in early 2026, the new bridge <a href=\"http:\/\/www.bbc.co.uk\/news\/articles\/c4ger4j2vy7o#:~:text=The%20A432%20Badminton%20Road%20bridge,would%20require%20another%20M4%20closure.\" class=\"ssrcss-f6h2dj-InlineLink e1kn3p7n0\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">which links Bristol with Yate, <\/a>will span eight lanes of motorway.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">National Highways said 3,000 to 4,000 vehicles use this section of motorway every hour during peak weekend periods. <\/p>\n<p class=\"ssrcss-1q0x1qg-Paragraph e1jhz7w10\">&#8220;We expect substantial disruption.
