More than 500 pedesterians have been injured in road accidents across Northern Ireland<\/a> over the past year, figures have shown.<\/p>\n When a pedestrian is injured on the road, the police assign a severity to that injury, ranging from slight to serious and then fatal. Between April 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, more than 548 pedestrians have been injured in road crashes, including ten fatalities in that time.<\/p>\n In 2022\/23, the PSNI<\/a> recorded 574 pedestrian injuries with 18 fatalities, before this figure rose to 618 casualties with 17 fatalities a year later. The latest figures were obtained by Accident Claims Advice<\/a> through a Freedom of Information requst to the PSNI.<\/p>\n Road Traffic Accident Manager for JF Law, Tracey Chick, said: \u201cEach road traffic incident involving pedestrians represents a moment of distress and potential life-altering consequences for those involved.<\/p>\n \u201cIf you have been involved in an accident, your safety should be the immediate priority, before exchanging details with the other involved parties, and reporting the incident to the police.\u201d<\/p>\n Looking at the overall breakdown of road collision casualties by road user type in Northern Ireland, drivers of motor vehicles account for the largest proportion of casualties (55.2%). This is followed by passengers (29.6%), pedestrians (7.2%), motorcyclists (3.9%) and pedal cyclists (2.8%).
