The comment was made by the Prince of Wales on The Reluctant Traveler episode, which sees the royal give Canadian actor Eugene Levy a tour of Windsor Castle.<\/a><\/p>\n

Speaking to Mr Levy, William said: \u201cGetting the balance of work and family life right is really important. Because for me, the most important thing in my life is family, and everything is about the future and about if you don\u2019t start the children off now with a happy, healthy, stable home, I feel you\u2019re setting them up for a bit of a hard time and a fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd so, it\u2019s about making sure that we can look after our families, look after our children, in a way that is best for their future.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked whether the importance of a normal homelife started with Princess Diana\u2019s parenting, William said: \u201cYes definitely, I think it\u2019s really important that that atmosphere is created at home. You have to have that warmth, that feeling of safety, security, love.\u201d<\/p>\n

He continued: \u201cThat all has to be there, and that was certainly part of my childhood. My parents got divorced at 8 (he was 14), so that lasted a short period of time.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut, you take that and you learn from it and you try and make sure you don\u2019t do the same mistakes as your parents. I think we all try and do that and I just want to do what\u2019s best for my children, but I know that the drama and the stress when you\u2019re small really affects you when you\u2019re older.\u201d<\/p>\n

While William may feel this way about his childhood, he is believed to have a good relationship with his father King Charles,<\/a> despite recent reports of tension. Over the last month, various reports have claimed there is a wedge between the Prince of Wales and the monarch, and that the pair\u2019s relationship is not smooth-sailing.<\/p>\n

However, this has been dismissed by a Palace insider,<\/a> with a source telling the Daily Mail:<\/a> “It’s evident there’s an attempt to manufacture division between them, when in reality, no such rift exists. In truth, their relationship is as strong as ever, they are aligned in their work, with many areas of shared interest, and united in their vision for the role of the Royal Family.”<\/p>\n
