{"id":472385,"date":"2025-10-04T00:42:14","date_gmt":"2025-10-04T00:42:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/472385\/"},"modified":"2025-10-04T00:42:14","modified_gmt":"2025-10-04T00:42:14","slug":"three-men-sentenced-after-100000-conned-out-of-victims-with-fraudulent-purchase-of-mobile-phones-and-watches","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/472385\/","title":{"rendered":"Three men sentenced after \u00a3100,000 conned out of victims with fraudulent purchase of mobile phones and watches"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Ghazanfar Khan, Kulwarn Chagger and Rajvinder Kandola defrauded victims by paying for high value goods with fake cheques between June 2020 and February 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Victims advertised mobile phones and watches on online marketplaces for sale.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/31016b86-8969-4cc6-b0a9-531014b3ec5d.png\"   alt=\"Ghazanfar Khan\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"w-full max-w-none\"\/>Ghazanfar Khan<\/p>\n<p>The trio used the same tactics for each victim whereby they would arrange a meeting location to purchase the item via bank transfer. However, on the day of the meeting, the bank transfer was not completed, and the defendants insisted a cheque would be paid into the victim\u2019s account instead.<\/p>\n<p>When the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westmidlands.police.uk\/news\/west-midlands\/news\/news\/2025\/october\/three-men-sentenced-after-fraudulent-purchase-of-mobile-phones-and-watches\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">victim<\/a> checked their account, a pending payment was shown. The for-sale item was then handed over, to only discover at a later date that the money never entered their account as the cheque was never cleared.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/ceb97217-1ff2-4b36-a346-3546155cd777.png\"   alt=\"Kulwarn Chagger\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"w-full max-w-none\"\/>Kulwarn Chagger<\/p>\n<p>Around 13 victims were linked by two common fraudulent cheques used, online marketplace names, phone numbers and common names used during the meet ups.<\/p>\n<p>Following CCTV and mobile phone work, we were able to connect the incidents to Khan, Chagger and Kandola.<\/p>\n<p>The three men were arrested and consequently charged.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/69544598-34a3-4d5f-a0b3-a356bb76ff2e.jpg\"   alt=\"Rajvinder Kandola\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"w-full max-w-none\"\/>Rajvinder Kandola<\/p>\n<p>Khan, aged 45, of Tividale Road, Tipton and Chagger, aged 51 of Park Hall Road, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/local-hubs\/wolverhampton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wolverhampton<\/a> were charged with conspiracy to commit fraud by false representation and conspiracy to possess articles for use in fraud.<\/p>\n<p>They admitted the charges at an earlier hearing and Khan was sentenced to four years in jail, whilst Chagger was sentenced to two years in jail.<\/p>\n<p>Kandola, aged 52 of Tilbury Close, Wolverhampton was charged with possessing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.expressandstar.com\/news\/crime\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">criminal property<\/a> after admitting at an earlier hearing.
