Asda<\/a> has announced it is introducing digital price tags across hundreds of its stores following a successful trial in Manchester<\/a>. The rollout will see 250 stores get the new technology, which is designed to simplify operations for colleagues.<\/p>\n The supermarket<\/a> giant is set to rollout VusionGroup\u2019s electronic shelf edge labels (ESLs), which it says will improve on-shelf availability and simplify operations for colleagues as they will no longer need to manually replace pricing in-store.<\/p>\n It also helps to display allergen information on the shelf through QR codes, in addition to displaying the cost, weight and unit price of products.<\/p>\n Approximately 2,800 separate electronic shelf edge labels – over 700,000 across the entire rollout – will be added to stores over the roll out.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n The technology is being introduced following a successful three-month trial at Asda<\/a>\u2019s Oxford Road<\/a> Store in Manchester. It is set to be introduced in over 250 Express stores, with 20 set to open before the end of the year.<\/p>\n Joseph Sutton, Vice President Asda Express, foodservice and fuel, said: \u201cWe\u2019re continuing to invest in enhancing our stores, and the launch of cutting-edge technology across our Express estate is proof of this. By streamlining our instore operations, we can free up our colleagues to focus on what they do best – serving our customers.<\/p>\n \u201cWith the first of 20 new Express sites set to open next, we\u2019re excited to build on this momentum and to bring Asda\u2019s trusted value to even more communities across the UK.\u201d<\/p>\n Asda recently announced it will launch up to 20 new Express stores before the end of the year, starting with Castleford on Wednesday next week. Each new Express store will feature the electronic shelf edge labels (ESLs) from day one.<\/p>\n
