Prince William and Princess Kate are seen as the future of the monarchy<\/a>, but in one swift move they\u2019ve taken The Firm<\/a> back centuries, says one royal expert.<\/p>\n

The royal couple have upset their new neighbors<\/a> by locking them out of Windsor Great Park. The Waleses have moved houses<\/a>, and as a result, the parking lot and the acres of land are closed off to the public, including their neighbors.<\/p>\n

Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner<\/a> compares it to the middle ages when royals lived in fortresses and the peasants were kept at a safe distance.<\/p>\n

Speaking exclusively to Mirror US, Mr. Pelham Turner said: \u201cIt\u2019s almost like the feudal system of the past still applies, where the Royal Family feel they are sovereign over the people, not serving the people.\u201d<\/p>\n

The UK-based TV presenter added: \u201cIn reality nobody was really asked, the people living nearby were told they were being re-housed, local residents told the woods where they walk their dogs is now an exclusion zone, so that the family could have privacy.\u201d<\/p>\n

It was announced in August that the Wales family would be moving houses. Now that they\u2019ve made the move to Forest Lodge, a notice has been posted to the Windsor Great Park website.<\/p>\n

The notice reads:<\/p>\n

Due to the pending designation of part of The Great Park as a SOCPA (Serious Organised Crime and Police Act exclusion area), access via Cranbourne Gate will permanently cease on Monday 29th September 2025. As a result, Cranbourne Car Park will be permanently closed from 7pm on Sunday 28 September 2025.<\/p>\n

Parking will remain available at Rangers Gate Car Park, located just down the road, which you can see on the Park Map here.<\/p>\n

William and Kate’s new neighbors are not happy with the royals<\/p>\n

Pelham Turner suggests a notice should be hung on the Palace gates reminding the royals that they are public servants.<\/p>\n

He explained: \u201cPerhaps a notice should be put up on the Palace gates reminding them of their solemn oaths and listen to the people, rather than running roughshod over them.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added: \u201cThe Royal Family should never forget they are the servants for British values, making promises in cathedrals and Coronations.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThere is certainly friction over these security decisions”<\/p>\n

When speaking to Pauline Maclaran, royal author and professor at Royal Holloway<\/a>, she agrees that it could have been handled better, but at the same time, the decisions are handled by the security team.<\/p>\n

She said: \u201cI think this could have been handled better with more warning given of the intended new security zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added: \u201cThere is certainly friction over these security decisions and it does seem that there was little advance warning of the new restrictions.\u201d<\/p>\n

While there are frustrations, Maclaran believes the decisions are made by the security team, and that the hard feelings are \u201ca storm in a teacup\u201d and will blow over.<\/p>\n
