Train services have been suspended from Birmingham New Street Station after strong winds brought a tree down on a line.<\/p>\n

Specialist teams are currently trying to move the branch which has struck overhead lines near University Station.<\/p>\n

The incident is affecting services on the Cross City South and travellers are advised to keep an eye on their rail provider.<\/p>\n

All lines remain blocked whilst the risk remains high of further damage.<\/p>\n

Birmingham<\/a> New Street posted on X: “A tree is leaning on overhead lines near University because of Storm Amy.<\/p>\n

“There is a risk that the tree could cause more damage so services are currently suspended<\/p>\n

“We\u2019re on site to assess and urge patience.”<\/p>\n

A yellow weather warning is in place until 7pm today with 45-55mph battering the country due to Storm Amy.<\/p>\n

Moseley<\/a> Park and Pool has been closed and an autumn market at Birmingham Botanical Gardens on Saturday, has been postponed until October 11.<\/p>\n

An event at Woodgate Valley Urban Park was also pulled and stallholders at the Kings Heath<\/a> market sold their produce from vehicles.<\/p>\n

Fallen trees are blocking multiple roads across the region including Northfield<\/a> Road in Birmingham.<\/p>\n

Wolverhampton Council said: “Jeffcock Road is expected to be closed outside No.184 for the majority of the day due to a storm-damaged tree that requires specialist machinery to safely remove the remainder of it.<\/p>\n
