Prince William voiced his determination to learn from his past and avoid repeating the same \u201cmistakes\u201d made by his parents during an appearance on comedian and actor Eugene Levy\u2019s AppleTV+ series \u201cThe Reluctant Traveler\u201d on Friday.<\/p>\n

On Aug. 28, 1996, the late Princess Diana and then Prince Charles finalized their divorce. At the time, William was 14 years old. Now, years later, he said he\u2019s intent on doing things differently for the sake of his own family \u2014 his wife Kate Middleton, Princess of Wales, and their three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.<\/p>\n

William stayed with the theme of \u201cchange for good,\u201d particularly in relation to the monarchy and family life, when talking to Levy.<\/p>\n

According to People,<\/a> Levy asked William what kind of change he hoped to implement with his own family unit, to which the royal emphasized the importance of a sense of normalcy, a value he attributes to his late mother. <\/p>\n

\u201cI think it\u2019s really important that that atmosphere is created at home. You have to have that warmth, that feeling of safety, security, love,\u201d William said. <\/p>\n

He explained that this sense of security and love was present in his childhood, even amid the controversy that plagued Diana\u2019s and Charles\u2019 marriage. <\/p>\n

\u201cYou take that and you learn from it and you try and make sure you don\u2019t do the same mistakes as your parents,\u201d he stated. \u201cI think we all try and do that and I just want to do what\u2019s best for my children, but I know that the drama and the stress when you\u2019re small really affects you when you\u2019re older.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Prince of Wales also pointed out the media\u2019s \u201cinsatiable\u201d appetite for bits and pieces of his family\u2019s personal life \u2014 something he and Middleton actively work towards keeping their three children away from.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf you let that creep in, the damage it can do to your family life is something that I vowed would never happen to my family. And so, I take a very strong line about where I think that line is and those who overstep it, I\u2019ll fight against,\u201d William said. <\/p>\n

During his time in London<\/a>, Levey reflected on the interview, describing it as an \u201cextremely memorable day\u201d for him, and how he \u201cdidn\u2019t know what to expect.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHe really set the tone, to me. He set a very casual, informal tone right off the top,\u201d Levy said. \u201c[He] made me feel a lot better and comfortable. I think he, as the day went on, I was sensing he seemed quite comfortable with me as well, which was a nice feeling.\u201d <\/p>\n

Speaking on the \u201cpersonal\u201d nature of the topics, Levy added, \u201cI believe [it was] information he wanted the world to hear.\u201d<\/p>\n
