(Photo by Scott Peterson\/Getty Images) \u00a0\" credit=\"\" sourcealt=\"\" sources=\"[]\" fetchpriority=\"auto\" loading=\"lazy\" width=\"8256\" height=\"5504\" decoding=\"async\" data-nimg=\"1\" style=\"color:transparent;aspect-ratio:inherit;object-fit:cover\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2236982994_2c169b.jpg\"\/><strong>What To Know<\/strong>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">On Saturday, Ukraine\u2019s General Staff revealed the details of its latest operations over the previous night.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">An attack on Kirishi refinery run by Kirishinefteorgsintez in Leningrad, which has an annual capacity of 18.4 million tons of oil processing, caused explosions and a fire.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Images published by the independent Russian channel Astra showed a\u00a0large explosion and flames rising from the refinery, while locals posted on social media about the blaze.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Regional Governor Alexander Drozdenko confirmed the\u00a0drone attack\u00a0and fire but did not identify the facility. He also said the fire had been put out and that air defenses had destroyed seven drones in the skies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Loading twitter content&#8230;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The refinery is more than 500 miles from\u00a0Ukraine\u2019s\u00a0border, and as one of Russia\u2019s largest, produces 6.6 percent of Russia\u2019s total oil refining volumes. It has been targeted repeatedly, including last month and in March 2024.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">On September 14, the refinery lost almost half of its production capacity when one of its primary processing units was hit, according to an open-source intelligence X account.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">Ukraine also said it had hit the small missile ship Buyan-M in Lake Onega in Russia\u2019s republic of Karelia.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">The Ukrainian armed forces said in a statement that a Garmon radar station and a transport and loading vehicle belonging to the Iskander missile system in Russia\u2019s Kursk region were hit, as was a command post in an occupied part of Ukraine\u2019s Donetsk region.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_blockParagraph__I2kr4\">On Friday, Ukrainian drones targeted a\u00a0chemical plant\u00a0in Russia\u2019s Perm region, disrupting the production of nitrogen fertilizer.
