Leeds lost their lengthy unbeaten home record after being beaten 2-1 by Tottenham at Elland Road on Saturday.<\/strong><\/p>\n Goals from Mathys Tel and Mohammed Kudus were enough to claim all three points for Spurs.<\/p>\n Noah Okafor scored for Leeds<\/a>, and they had chances to equalise, but they were unable to take them.<\/p>\n Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/a> had some good openings in the first half, but was mostly well covered by Tottenham defenders Cristian Romero and Micky Van de Ven.<\/p>\n Calvert-Lewin was compared to legendary Leeds striker Lee Chapman<\/a> earlier in the week, but he came off second best in most duels against Van de Ven in particular.<\/p>\n Covering the game for talkSPORT, former England defender Stuart Pearce<\/a> was quick to note Van de Ven\u2019s dominance against the former England striker.<\/p>\n And, worryingly for Leeds, Pearce suggested that Van de Ven might have \u2018half-injured\u2019 the striker during the game.<\/p>\n \ud83c\udf99\ufe0f “\ud835\uddea\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddee\ud835\uddfb \ud835\uddf0\ud835\uddfc\ud835\uddfa\ud835\uddfd\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf2 \ud835\uddee\ud835\ude01 \ud835\ude01\ud835\uddf5\ud835\uddf6\ud835\ude00 \ud835\uddf9\ud835\uddf2\ud835\ude03\ud835\uddf2\ud835\uddf9” \u2014 Leeds United (@LUFC) October 4, 2025<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n View Tweet<\/p>\n He said: \u201c[Van de Ven] almost dismissed him. You can tell by the way that he plays with the ball at his feet that he fears him not at all, and I think he\u2019s half-injured him.\u201d<\/p>\n Leeds need to try and not become too reliant on Calvert-Lewin <\/p>\n There wasn\u2019t much between the two sides, and it\u2019s fair to say that Tottenham might be counting their lucky stars to come away with all three points.<\/p>\n There weren\u2019t too many clear chances for either team. It was simply a case of Tottenham taking enough of their chances and Leeds not.<\/p>\n Key statistics from Leeds v Tottenham<\/p>\n Leeds are in danger of becoming too reliant on Calvert-Lewin. They don\u2019t want to be a team that doesn\u2019t play well when their star man isn\u2019t firing. <\/p>\n Daniel Farke had plenty of compliments for Joel Piroe<\/a> earlier in the week, and the Dutchman was thrown on as Leeds chased an equaliser with 10 minutes to go.<\/p>\n Sadly, he was barely given a sniff either, apart from a late chance in stoppage time that was wasted.<\/p>\n Calvert-Lewin remains a worthy Plan A for Leeds<\/a>, but the lack of a Plan B could be worrying.<\/p>\n Despite Pearce\u2019s \u2018half-injured\u2019 verdict, Calvert-Lewin finished the game against Tottenham.
