Two people who were arrested in relation to the terror attack on Heaton Park synagogue have been released without further action, police have confirmed this evening (Saturday, October 4).<\/p>\n
In a new statement the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU) said: “The 18-year-old woman and 43-year-old man who were arrested in connection with the investigation into the terrorist incident that took place outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue have been released with no further action.”<\/p>\n
It comes after Greater Manchester Police previously said it had been granted warrants of further detention to continue to question four people in relation to the attack<\/a>.<\/p>\n Three of the four were arrested in Prestwich<\/a>, Bury<\/a>, on the day of the attack on Thursday. The fourth was held in Farnworth, Bolton<\/a>, on Friday night.<\/p>\n Never miss a story with the MEN’s daily Catch Up newsletter – get it in your inbox by signing up here<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n An 18-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man have since been released with no further action.<\/p>\n Terrorist Jihad Al-Shamie, 35, was shot dead by armed GMP officers<\/a> outside Heaton Park<\/a> Hebrew Congregation Synagogue on Middleton<\/a> Road in Crumpsall on Thursday, as the Jewish community marked the holy day of Yom Kippur.<\/p>\n Adrian Daulby, 53, is believed to have been accidentally shot dead by police while attempting to prevent Al-Shamie from entering the synagogue during the car and knife attack.<\/p>\n He was killed together with Melvin Cravitz, 66, from Crumpsall, a worshipper who helped prevent the attacker from entering the premises. Armed police accidentally shot Mr Daulby and another member of the public who survived during the attack.<\/p>\n On Saturday, the force said three men remained in hospital with serious injuries, including a security guard with car-impact injuries and a Community Security Trust (CST) worker with stab wounds.<\/p>\n In a statement on Saturday: GMP said: “Our investigation into the appalling terrorist incident that took place outside the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue is continuing at pace.
