In London<\/a>, you can\u2019t move for acclaimed restaurants<\/a>. There are Michelin star stalwarts<\/a>, like nose-to-tail pioneer\u00a0St John<\/a>, taco joints that could hold their own in\u00a0Mexico City<\/a> and a growing number of world-class Korean joints<\/a> from Miga to Dotori. Which is why it is quite something to be a restaurant in the capital and be crowned as one of the best in the world.<\/p>\n

That rare feat, however, has been achieved by historic family-run restaurant Tower Tandoori<\/a> in London Bridge<\/a>. It\u2019s one of only two UK restaurants to make TripAdvisor\u2019s top ten \u2018All-Time Best\u2019 as part of its recent\u00a0Travellers\u2019 Choice<\/a>\u00a0awards. If not already clear, it\u2019s a big deal: the accolade is based on\u00a0a high volume of above-and-beyond reviews and opinions from the Tripadvisor community. Out of the site\u2019s 8 million listings, fewer than 1 per cent achieve this milestone.<\/p>\n

Tower Tandoori has been going strong for nearly half a century, after first opening its doors in 1978. The menu features bangers like paneer lababdar, a rich Punjabi curry, mutton biryani and Mughlai lamb shank. TripAdvisor reviewers call the food \u2018exceptional\u2019 and a \u2019real treasure trove of Indian cuisine in London\u2019, with service praised as \u2018attentive\u2019 and \u2018excellent\u2019.<\/p>\n

TripAdvisor itself describes Tower Tandoori as offering \u2018fresh, vibrant Indian dishes in a beautifully decorated space that feels both elegant and inviting\u2019. The result? A number nine spot in the global top ten for \u2019All-Time Best\u2019 and an impressive 4.8 rating on TripAdvisor from over 3,200 reviews, nearly 3,000 of which are five stars.<\/p>\n

The only other UK restaurant on the list is\u00a0The Witchery in Edinburgh<\/a>\u00a0at number six, which is a masterclass in Scottish cooking, balancing indulgence and tradition with classics like beef ribeye steak. Taking the top spot is\u00a0Bodegas Mezquita C\u00e9spedes<\/a> in\u00a0Spain<\/a>, a little tapas restaurant that is \u2018loved by reviewers for its authentic local dishes and warm hospitality\u2019.<\/p>\n
