It should have been so much more, but once again this season, Leeds United have produced a display in which they have deserved more than the end result. A 2-1 loss to Tottenham.<\/strong><\/p>\n

As Daniel Farke<\/a> said after the game, all the metrics proved it. They proved that Leeds<\/a> had a better XG, far better than Tottenham\u2019s. Possession, territory, chances created, shots on goal, Leeds dominated stats.<\/p>\n

But stats don\u2019t equate to points all the time, and while Wayne Rooney says Daniel Farke will be delighted with his side\u2019s performance<\/a> against one of the Premier League\u2019s<\/a> Champions League sides, it is still a loss.<\/p>\n

It is not the first time the result didn\u2019t match the stats for Leeds. Fulham should have been a draw, and Leeds should have beaten Bournemouth, but for late goals. Leeds arguably could have beaten Newcastle.<\/p>\n

With Leeds having been in the Championship for the past two seasons, it saw a raft of Tottenham players face Leeds for the first time. It also saw Archie Gray return to Elland Road for the first time<\/a> since his exit.<\/p>\n

Guglielmo Vicario joined Spurs in 2023, a couple of months after Leeds were relegated on the final day of the 22-23 season, ironically against Spurs at Elland Road<\/a>. He gave his first impressions on Instagram.<\/p>\n

Vicario posted on Instagram, having denied Leeds on a few occasions during Tottenham\u2019s 2-1 win: \u201cLeeds away, never easy. But we come back with the 3 points. A big shout to the traveling fans.\u201d<\/p>\n

Vicario was excellent on the day, making a brilliant save low down to his left to deny Dominic Calvert-Lewin early in the second half. Had Calvert-Lewin scored, it would have put Leeds into the lead.<\/p>\n

Leeds are next in action after the October international break, when The Whites go to Turf Moor to take on Burnley in what is a crucial encounter.
