Two huge motorway projects form part of the most significant developments across Greater Manchester this week.<\/p>\n
A link road on the M61 has been planned alongside a huge new 1,450-home development in Bolton<\/a>. The project is currently tied to Bolton being awarded the Ryder Cup in 2035.<\/p>\n The developer has now revealed plans called Lee Hall, which includes some parts of the previous Hulton Park project.<\/p>\n To see planning applications; traffic and road diversions and layout changes; and more, visit the Public Notices Portal HERE<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Those elements are the homes and the Park Avenue link road.<\/p>\n Just down the motorway and east from there is Simister Island \u2013 the major motorway junction that connects the M60<\/a>, M62<\/a> and M66. New plans to help deliver its reconfiguration would see a construction compound built at junction 19 of the M62.<\/p>\n The proposals are currently in the early stages of the planning process.<\/p>\n Here is a breakdown of each borough\u2019s recently submitted public notices<\/p>\n Bolton Developer pivots from Ryder Cup dependent scheme in bid to build 1,450 home and new link road near M61<\/strong><\/p>\n A developer has revealed plans for 1,450 homes, a long-awaited link road and employment space on land close to the M61.<\/p>\n Peel Land, already has a planning application approved for an international golf resort at Hulton Park, near Westhoughton, approved.<\/p>\n However, that development is dependent on Bolton being awarded the Ryder Cup in 2035.<\/p>\n The developer has now revealed plans called Lee Hall, which includes some parts of the previous Hulton Park project. Those elements are homes, the Park Avenue link road, which they claim will ease road congestion at the Chequerbent roundabout and community and environmental infrastructure.<\/p>\n Peel said Lee Hall would be delivered \u2018separately from, but alongside\u2019 the wider Hulton Park golf project, with a venue yet to be announced for the 2035 golf tournament.<\/p>\n Manchester Four Manchester suburbs given \u00a380m promise<\/strong><\/p>\n Manchester council has made a \u00a380m promise to give residents in four areas of the city something they are \u2018crying out for\u2019.<\/p>\n Town hall bosses were buoyed by the government\u2019s decision to award four neighbourhoods \u00a320 million each to improve the area. Benchill South & Wythenshawe<\/a> Central, Harpurhey<\/a> South & Monsall, Clayton<\/a> Vale, and Gorton<\/a> South are the neighbourhoods set to benefit over the next decade.<\/p>\n Now, councillors across the political spectrum in Manchester have pledged \u2018every pound of this funding will be guided by the voices of local residents\u2019<\/p>\n Roadworks<\/strong><\/p>\n Conservative Party Conference road closures<\/strong><\/p>\n The Conservatives<\/a> will be hosting the annual party conference at Manchester Central<\/a> from October 5-8, but roads near the venue will close at various times from Sunday (September 28) until October 10.<\/p>\n Rochdale Huge M60 junction scheme at Simister Island takes step forward<\/strong><\/p>\n Plans for a massive motorway junction upgrade on the notoriously busy Simister Island has taken another step forward.<\/p>\n Five lanes of traffic and a new link road will be created at Junction 18 in a bid to ease congestion, following official confirmation by the Department for Transport (DfT) earlier this month. Simister Island interchange, which connects the M60, M62 and M66 motorways, has long been earmarked for a massive change under National Highways proposals.<\/p>\n The project would see a \u2018northern loop\u2019 built to stop thousands of vehicles using the current traffic light controlled roundabout every day. A five-lane section on both sides of the M60 between Prestwich<\/a> and Simister (junctions 17 and 18) has been touted as well.<\/p>\n Now plans for a construction compound at junction 19 of the M62 to support the project are being considered.<\/p>\n Castleton to Rochdale Active Travel Scheme \u2013 Phase 2<\/strong><\/p>\n Until January 31, 2027, staggered works will take place along Manchester Road between Castleton and Rochdale<\/a> to deliver phase two improvements.<\/p>\n Stockport \u2018We\u2019re being swamped by developers trying to concrete over our precious green spaces\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n A group of neighbours in Stockport<\/a> have banded together to try and stop up to 300 homes being built on the green belt.<\/p>\n Calling themselves the Hazel Grove<\/a> Greenbelt Action Group, residents have written an open letter to Story Homes about its proposals for east of Sandown Road, saying the plans would be an \u2018irreplaceable\u2019 loss of green space. The group has set up a petition which it said has been signed by more than 1,000 people.<\/p>\n Story Homes defended its plans, saying at least half the new homes it hopes to build would be at \u2018affordable\u2019 prices, with a mix of housing types and a 10 per cent biodiversity net gain.<\/p>\n Greek Street, Stockport \u2013 Road Closure<\/strong><\/p>\n Until Spring 2026, Greek Street roundabout in Stockport will be closed for railway bridge replacement works.<\/p>\n Works expected to last until Wednesday, April 1.<\/p>\n Tameside Huge HMO crackdown begins as war declared on \u2018slum landlords\u2019<\/strong><\/p>\n A tough crackdown on houses of multiple occupation (HMOs) has been brought into effect across Tameside<\/a> this week.<\/p>\n In what one councillor has described as a \u2018war on slum landlords\u2019, all HMOs will now require planning permission regardless of size. This comes after town hall bosses approved an immediate Article 4 Direction last week.<\/p>\n Previously, only HMOs housing seven or more people needed planning permission. Under the new rules, every HMO conversion will need planning permission, including small HMOs \u2013 which contain between three and six people.<\/p>\n Mottram-in-Longdendale\/Hollingworth, Tameside<\/strong><\/p>\n Planned road layout changes will take place on Roe Cross Road & A57 Mottram Moor.
