Lola Young is \u201cgoing away for a while\u201d after collapsing mid-performance<\/a> at New York City\u2019s All Things Go festival over the weekend. The \u201cMessy\u201d singer announced the indefinite hiatus on Instagram today<\/a>, writing, \u201cIt pains me to say I have to cancel everything for the foreseeable future.\u201d Her post continued: \u201cThank you for all the love and support. I\u2019m so sorry to let anyone down who has bought a ticket to see me, it hurts me more than you know. Obviously you will be entitled to a full refund. I really hope you\u2019ll give me a second chance once I\u2019ve had some time to work on myself and come back stronger.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Young didn\u2019t give a reason for her collapse at All Things Go, but wrote that she was \u201cdoing okay\u201d on Instagram after the fact. Before being carried off stage, she shared that she\u2019d had a \u201ctricky couple of days\u201d with the crowd. \u201cSometimes life can really make you feel like you can\u2019t continue. Today, I woke up and made the decision to come here,\u201d she told fans, emphasizing that she didn\u2019t want to \u201cwallow\u201d in her sadness. \u201cSometimes life can throw you lemons,\u201d she continued. \u201cAnd you just gotta fucking make lemonade.\u201d<\/p>\n

She subsequently canceled her planned Sunday appearance at the D.C. edition of the festival. \u201cI love this job and I never take my commitments and audience for granted so I\u2019m sorry to those who will be disappointed by this,\u201d she wrote on Instagram<\/a>, thanking \u201call those who listen and care\u201d and asking \u201call the people that love to be mean online\u201d to \u201cpls give me a day off.\u201d The previous Friday, she had also pulled out of a show in Newark, NJ for what her manager Nick Shymansky cited as a \u201csensitive matter\u201d in an Instagram post<\/a>.<\/p>\n

It was Young that inspired Shymansky, who previously managed Amy Winehouse, to return to the business<\/a> after a long break. \u201cThe whole thing\u2019s completely complex, but of course this is like a dream moment to me,\u201d he said of his work with Young in a recent interview with The New York Times<\/a>. \u201cI\u2019m seeing this person that I deeply care about, that I feel is so special, and I\u2019m getting to be the person I wish I could have been.\u201d<\/p>\n
