They had three of those, so everyone must be swimming in dough, and the sport better off for it, right?<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-5-EPHGVPCXDRBXJKZFGATR5HAYFE\">Hardly. Does cricket really need India-Pakistan matches when this is what they bring? Would it not have been better off if they had decided back then that, no, in actual fact, this is going to be more trouble than its worth?<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-6-7IWGRAYJUFFVFJHYTXDAOMVCTE\">Players making <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/sport\/cricket\/2025\/09\/21\/abhishek-sharma-guides-india-to-win-as-feud-continues-in-heated-clash-with-pakistan-in-dubai\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/sport\/cricket\/2025\/09\/21\/abhishek-sharma-guides-india-to-win-as-feud-continues-in-heated-clash-with-pakistan-in-dubai\/\">mocking gestures<\/a> related to war. No handshakes. Boycott threats. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/sport\/cricket\/2025\/09\/17\/pakistan-v-uae-asia-cup-match-in-dubai-to-go-ahead-despite-chaos-after-india-handshake-row\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/sport\/cricket\/2025\/09\/17\/pakistan-v-uae-asia-cup-match-in-dubai-to-go-ahead-despite-chaos-after-india-handshake-row\/\">Sit-in protests<\/a> at the team hotel, while government-level talks took place abroad. Tit-for-tat official complaints.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-8-274QPBZFBZGKHL555OAPOKKWTQ\">And, even in Dubai, fans being ejected for altercations in the stands, as happened during the final. That has never happened before when these two teams have met in this city. The fixture played here had previously brought rival fans together, not set them apart.<\/p>\n<p class=\"defaultstyled__StyledText-sc-11u52t4-1 huqwQJ margin-lg-bottom\" id=\"el-9-TXXS3FSKKBE5FCQZZN7LMABODM\">It is easy to be too precious about these things. And, let\u2019s get it right: the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/sport\/cricket\/2025\/09\/28\/india-complete-asia-cup-defence-after-being-handed-title-by-pakistan-batting-implosion\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.thenationalnews.com\/sport\/cricket\/2025\/09\/28\/india-complete-asia-cup-defence-after-being-handed-title-by-pakistan-batting-implosion\/\">Asia Cup<\/a> was impossible to take your eyes off.
