There, up to 20cm is forecast.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Over the weekend of October 18, Brits can expect <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/snow-forecast-scotland-temperatures-tumble-35878351\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">chilly conditions<\/a> with temperatures set to drop to freezing. The data by WXCharts points to a widespread chill gripping the nation in the early hours of Saturday, October 18.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">By midnight, the mercury is set to hover between 1C and 0C across much of Wales, and even hit -1C in <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/snow-forecast-scotland-temperatures-tumble-35878351\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">parts of northern Scotland.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">In its long-range <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/snow-forecast-scotland-temperatures-tumble-35878351\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">forecast<\/a> for Saturday, October 18, to Saturday, November 1, the Met Office warns: &#8220;The latter half of October will see a transition to more widely unsettled conditions once more, though the timing of this remains unclear.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">&#8220;Whether this takes the form of successive depressions moving in from the Atlantic or a rather slower evolving weather pattern remains to be seen, but there is a greater chance of more places seeing more frequent spells of rain or showers and possibly strong winds later in the month. Temperatures probably close to average overall.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Snow typically appears in the UK between December and February &#8211; the coldest months &#8211; but it&#8217;s also possible from late November through March. Scotland&#8217;s Cairngorms in the Grampian Mountains are among the <a class=\"TextLink_text-link__dBSS0 TextLink_enabled__dJF3l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.dailyrecord.co.uk\/news\/scottish-news\/snow-forecast-scotland-temperatures-tumble-35878351\" target=\"_self\" aria-label=\"\" tabindex=\"0\" rel=\"noopener\">snowiest places in the UK<\/a>, according to the Met Office<\/p>\n<p class=\"Paragraph_paragraph-text__PVKlh \" data-tmdatatrack=\"content-unit\" data-tmdatatrack-type=\"paragraph\" publication=\"dailyrecord\">Snow falls 76 days on average each year at the Cairngorm chairlift station, and 66 days at nearby Aviemore, based on data from 1981-2010.
