{"id":479643,"date":"2025-10-07T04:54:12","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T04:54:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/479643\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T04:54:12","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T04:54:12","slug":"tony-dorigo-names-the-harsh-lesson-that-leeds-united-learned-during-the-tottenham-defeat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/479643\/","title":{"rendered":"Tony Dorigo names the &#8216;harsh lesson&#8217; that Leeds United learned during the Tottenham defeat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Former Leeds United defender Tony Dorigo believes Daniel Farke\u2019s side learned one harsh lesson during their defeat against Tottenham.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/daniel-farke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Farke<\/a> was pleased with his side\u2019s display in defeat against Spurs, as they gave a good account of themselves against a member of the current <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/premier-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Premier League<\/a> top four.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/daniel-farke-lets-loose-on-dominic-calvert-lewin-after-leeds-uniteds-struggles-vs-tottenham\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Farke called out Dominic Calvert-Lewin<\/a> after the game, urging him to improve his efficiency in front of goal after the England international missed another two chances.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds were undoubtedly unfortunate in the defeat, as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/daniel-farke-will-not-drop-leeds-united-man-as-15m-summer-signing-faces-wait-according-to-beren-cross\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Karl Darlow was beaten<\/a> by two shots that deflected off centre-back <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/pascal-struijk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Pascal Struijk<\/a> to settle the game.  <\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/tag\/tony-dorigo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Tony Dorigo<\/a> believes it was the Whites\u2019 wastefulness in the final third that cost them, as Leeds sit on eight points after seven games heading into the international break. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2238754794-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Leeds United v Tottenham Hotspur - Premier League\" class=\"wp-image-114407\" \/>Photo by Simon Stacpoole\/Offside\/Offside via Getty ImagesTony Dorigo wants Leeds United to learn from \u2018harsh lesson\u2019<\/p>\n<p>Speaking on <a href=\"https:\/\/video.leedsunited.com\/video\/dm9kJTdDMF9jemltN3czMiU3QyUyRnBhZ2UlM0ZzbHVnJTNEaG9tZSU3Q2hvbWUlMkZsaXN0JTJGMSUyRmZlZWQ%3D\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">LUTV<\/a> at full-time of Leeds\u2019 narrow defeat against Tottenham, Dorigo bemoaned <a href=\"https:\/\/www.leedsunited.news\/news\/tony-dorigo-thinks-tottenham-player-was-lucky-not-to-be-sent-off-in-first-half-v-leeds-united\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Leeds\u2019 inability to find a second goal<\/a> to pull level. <\/p>\n<p>According to Dorigo, Leeds were taught a \u201charsh lesson\u201d in the defeat, which they will need to address in their upcoming games. <\/p>\n<p>Dorigo said: \u201cThere\u2019s no doubt it is a disappointment because it\u2019s a harsh lesson in being efficient in front of goal. Tottenham were just better on the day at exactly that. We certainly had the chances, we know they are a wily side, they kept us at bay to be fair in that second half, very well. <\/p>\n<p>MORE LEEDS UNITED STORIES<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut once we started going direct, putting more pressure on them, the chances started to come a little more. But the opportunity for us to go and get that first goal in the first half was missed, and, once again, in the second half, the chance to take that lead was missed.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe paid for it this time, we couldn\u2019t come back.
