\n\tNikki Glaser<\/a> is looking back at her time hosting the Golden Globes<\/a> and acknowledging that the joke she made about Selena Gomez\u2019s fianc\u00e9, Benny Blanco<\/a>, was \u201cpretty mean.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tIn a conversation at the Time100 Summit this week, the comedian admitted to having \u201ca reputation of being mean\u201d due to her appearances on the roast specials, adding, \u201cBut I\u2019m hired to [be] mean for those.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cGolden Globes, it\u2019s not my job to ruin their night,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\n\tDuring the 2025 Golden Globes in January, Glaser joked, \u201cSelena Gomez is here with Benny Blanco, her new fianc\u00e9, and Benny Blanco is here because of the genie who granted him that wish.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tRecalling the joke, Glaser admits that the joke \u201cwas kind of mean,\u201d adding, \u201cI said that Selena Gomez is here because of\u00a0Emilia P\u00e9rez\u00a0and Benny Blanco is here because the genie granted him that one wish, and looking back, I was like that was pretty mean.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cBecause everyone\u2019s like he\u2019s not attractive enough for her and for me, I never looked at them and actually thought that,\u201d she said. \u201cI feel like she won too with it, like I think he\u2019s really cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe stand-up comedian said that she took the advice from Jimmy Kimmel after the fellow comedian told her, \u201cIf you\u2019re worried about a joke, and how it\u2019s going to go over, just ask them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tBefore making the joke on TV, Glaser said she texted Blanco and ran the quip by him.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cHe was like, \u2018That\u2019s hilarious, let me run it by Selena\u2019\u201d and I was like \u2018Hell yeah,\u2019 and then we were all waiting in the writer\u2019s room like, \u2018When is he going to write?\u2019 and he wrote back and was like, \u2018Selena thinks it\u2019s great,\u2019 \u201d she said. \u201cSo they gave me permission.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tGlaser is returning to host the Golden Globes next year, which is set to take place on Sunday, January 11, 2026.<\/p>\n
