A fundraiser has been set up to support\u00a0RuPaul\u2019s Drag Race UK<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0contestant\u00a0Ginny Lemon<\/strong><\/a>, who was hospital over the weekend after being diagnosed with meningitis.<\/p>\n

Lemon rose to fame after appearing on\u00a0series two of the beloved drag franchise, coming in 10th place after a self-elimination.<\/p>\n

The online campaign was launched over the weekend by fellow drag performer\u00a0Fatt Butcher, who said the funds would help \u201cfill the gap\u201d in Lemon\u2019s income\u00a0through a JustGiving page<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy dearest Ginny Lemon is currently in hospital with meningitis\u201d \u2013 Fatt Butcher putting on a fundraiser for Ginny Lemon<\/p>\n

In a heartfelt Instagram<\/strong><\/a> post, the drag artist wrote:\u00a0\u201cBabs, my dearest Ginny Lemon is currently in hospital with meningitis and will likely be in hospital for a couple of weeks, with additional time needed to recover afterwards.\u201d<\/p>\n

Highlighting the financial effect this may have on the entertainer, Butcher continued:\u00a0\u201cThis really is the self-employed nightmare \u2013 if you don\u2019t do the gig, you don\u2019t get paid. This is already a challenging time to be an artist.\u201d<\/p>\n

Referring to the \u201cserious illness\u201d, Butcher added that they hoped to raise\u00a0\u00a31,000\u00a0while Lemon is hospitalised,\u00a0\u201cso that Ginny can focus entirely on getting better, rest, and recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n

The fundraiser has already surpassed expectations, collecting more than\u00a0\u00a32,400\u00a0in donations.<\/p>\n

Several of Ginny\u2019s\u00a0Drag Race UK sisters, including\u00a0Pixie Polite<\/strong><\/a>, Dita Garbo<\/strong><\/a>, Banksie<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Tia Kofi<\/strong><\/a>, shared messages of support wishing them a full recovery.<\/p>\n

From hospital, the 36-year-old shared photos on Instagram, jokingly referring to their condition as \u201cThemingitis\u201d and telling followers they would be \u201chospital-bound for the next 10 to 14 days\u201d.<\/p>\n

Yesterday, the drag star celebrated\u00a0their\u00a0and\u00a0their husband\u2019s\u00a020-year anniversary from their hospital bed, posting the bittersweet moment on Instagram<\/strong><\/a>:\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m spending my 20-year anniversary with my amazing, lovely, gorgeous, fabulous, handsome husband in a hospital bed.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s celebrate when I\u2019m not on\u00a0my deathbed\u201d \u2013 Lemon celebrating their anniversary with their partner in hospital <\/p>\n

They quipped: \u201cLet\u2019s celebrate when I\u2019m not on\u00a0my deathbed.\u201d<\/p>\n

They also encouraged fans to stream their recent album\u00a0Fruit Loop<\/a>,<\/strong> featuring 11 new singles, which marked its first week of release last week (26 September).<\/p>\n

Meningitis\u00a0is a serious infection of the protective membranes that surround the brain and spinal cord.<\/p>\n

Symptoms may include:<\/strong>
\u2013 A\u00a0high temperature\u00a0(fever)
\u2013 Being\u00a0sick
\u2013 A\u00a0headache
\u2013 A\u00a0rash that does not fade\u00a0when a glass is pressed against it
\u2013 Stiff neck\u00a0and\u00a0sensitivity to light
\u2013 Drowsiness\u00a0or difficulty waking up
\u2013 Seizures<\/p>\n
