{"id":480224,"date":"2025-10-07T10:56:13","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T10:56:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/480224\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T10:56:13","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T10:56:13","slug":"top-sky-sports-expert-delivers-relegation-verdict-between-west-ham-and-leeds","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/480224\/","title":{"rendered":"Top Sky Sports expert delivers relegation verdict between West Ham and Leeds"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>One of Sky Sports\u2019 leading analysts has named West Ham and Leeds among the group of sides he believes are in danger of being relegated from the Premier League.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hammers.news\/club\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">West Ham<\/a> cannot say they weren\u2019t warned about the threat of Leeds United, Sunderland and Burnley.<\/p>\n<p>For the last two seasons all three promoted clubs have gone straight back down without so much as a fight.<\/p>\n<p>That meant the Hammers got away with no realistic prospect of the dreaded drop in what was a terrible season as they finished 14th.<\/p>\n<p>Paul Merson said <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hammers.news\/news\/leeds-and-burnley-licking-their-lips-at-graham-potters-west-ham-mission-impossible-says-paul-merson\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Leeds and co would be licking their lips at West Ham<\/a> having been promoted back to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hammers.news\/premier-league\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Premier League<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>West Ham and Leeds living up to Merson\u2019s pre-season prediction<\/p>\n<p>The pundit could see West Ham\u2019s struggles coming from a mile away.<\/p>\n<p>So far, he has been proved spot on.<\/p>\n<p>West Ham have won just one of their eight games in all competitions this season, leaving them second bottom of the table and out of the Carabao Cup at the first hurdle.<\/p>\n<p>Leeds meanwhile sit 15th with eight points, double West Ham\u2019s tally of four.<\/p>\n<p>The Hammers\u2019 woeful start has cost Graham Potter his job and now <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hammers.news\/tag\/nuno-espirito-santo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nuno Espirito Santo<\/a> has been tasked with turning the sinking ship around.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"701\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2239164139-1024x701.jpg\" alt=\"Nuno Espirito Santo talks to Crysencio Summerville during Arsenal v West Ham United - Premier League\" class=\"wp-image-281055\" \/>Photo by Alex Pantling\/Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>The points total needed to stay up is expected to be the highest it has been for over a decade given how fiercely competitive the top flight is this term.<\/p>\n<p>There have been encouraging signs for West Ham in Nuno\u2019s first two games.<\/p>\n<p>After the international break, the Irons have a run of games where they will need to pick up points \u2013 including an away clash against <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hammers.news\/tag\/daniel-farke\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Daniel Farke\u2019s<\/a> Leeds at Elland Road on a Friday night under the lights.<\/p>\n<p>That could already be a six-pointer even at this early stage of the campaign if one leading analyst\u2019s take is anything to go by.<\/p>\n<p>Top expert delivers relegation verdict between West Ham and Leeds<\/p>\n<p>A top Sky Sports expert has delivered his relegation verdict between West Ham and Leeds \u2013 and he believes one is more likely to go down than the other.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hammers.news\/tag\/dougie-critchley\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Dougie Critchley<\/a> says the Premier League relegation battle is shaping up to be a \u2018classic\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Critchley thinks West Ham, Nottingham Forest, Wolves, Leeds, Burnley and Brentford will form the group battling to survive for most of the season.<\/p>\n<p>But the Sunderland fan believes West Ham are more likely to avoid relegation than Leeds as he named his picks to be demoted.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" loading=\"lazy\"  src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/10\/GettyImages-2213199796-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"Daniel Farke celebrates after Plymouth Argyle FC v Leeds United FC in the Sky Bet Championship\" class=\"wp-image-265871\" \/>Photo by Harry Trump\/Getty ImagesLeeds more likely to drop than West Ham says analyst<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Premier League\u2019s relegation battle looks set to be an absolute classic,\u201d Critchley said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cI personally find it very difficult to imagine West Ham and Nottingham Forest going down given their individual quality. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cSunderland, Leeds and even Burnley (despite their inferior points tally) look pretty competitive.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrentford are so much better than people expected. Wolves look to be in trouble, but I\u2019d have thought they could fork out some money in January if needed.
