{"id":480468,"date":"2025-10-07T13:18:10","date_gmt":"2025-10-07T13:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/480468\/"},"modified":"2025-10-07T13:18:10","modified_gmt":"2025-10-07T13:18:10","slug":"sherri-shepherds-new-childrens-book-the-sunshine-queens","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/uk\/480468\/","title":{"rendered":"Sherri Shepherd&#8217;s New Children&#8217;s Book \u2018The Sunshine Queens\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Sherri Shepherd is hoping to teach kids about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/kids\/development\/friends\/making-friends\/\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">power of friendship<\/a> through her first children\u2019s book, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.barnesandnoble.com\/w\/the-sunshine-queens-sherri-shepherd\/1147138320\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"externalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">The Sunshine Queens<\/a>, out on October 7, 2025.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_3-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Aimed for ages 4 to 8, the book focuses on four friends\u2014<a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/chloe-name-meaning-origin-popularity-8638140\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chloe<\/a>, <a class=\"recommendation-inline-link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/jade-name-meaning-origin-popularity-8669282\" link-destination-recommendation=\"true\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jade<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/zara-name-meaning-origin-popularity-8638740\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"3\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zara<\/a>, and Alejandra\u2014learning the value of friendship, as well as teamwork, love, and positivity, while they overcome challenges. Shepherd\u2019s own longtime friendships inspired the book.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_5-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThey&#8217;ve always been there for me. They&#8217;re the queens of sunshine in my life,\u201d says the host of Sherri, her daytime talk show currently on season 4. \u201cSo, I wanted to write a book for younger girls so that they could know, you can do it by yourself, but you&#8217;re so much stronger when you have your girlfriends with you. I wanted them to know the power of other women, of other young girls, that could be in their life.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_7-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/what-kids-should-read-next-based-on-their-favorite-tv-shows-11786715\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">children&#8217;s book<\/a> comes during what\u2019s being dubbed a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/most-parents-feel-lonely-heres-why-8639480\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">loneliness epidemic<\/a> for all ages, including children. Research from Girl Scouts of the USA in 2024 found that the majority of girls between the ages of 5 to 13 experience loneliness. It also showed confidence drops as loneliness increases, but friendship acts as a confidence booster.\u00a0\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_9-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cI wanted these little girls to know you&#8217;re not alone. You just have to turn to your left and your right, and there may be a sunshine queen right there who&#8217;s shy or who&#8217;s a little afraid, and to just reach out,\u201d she says. \u201cThere is always strength in numbers.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>  The Power of Friendship\u00a0  <\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_13-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> The actress and comedian has learned firsthand the importance of positive friendships, particularly when it comes to parenting her now 20-year-old son, Jeffrey.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_15-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cThere were times when Jeffrey was little and I had to go on the road to do stand-up comedy; I didn&#8217;t have a job,\u201d she says. \u201cSome of my friends would come and just pick up Jeffrey and watch him for the weekend.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_17-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> She\u2019s also leaned on her village for advice on her son&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.parents.com\/evidence-backed-reason-why-autism-rates-are-rising-11723967\" data-component=\"link\" data-source=\"inlineLink\" data-type=\"internalLink\" data-ordinal=\"1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">autism diagnosis<\/a>. That includes actresses Holly Robinson Peete and Tisha Campbell, who both have sons with autism.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_19-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> \u201cI need somebody who understands, who can calm me down, and let me know, \u2018You know what? It&#8217;s not that bad. Here&#8217;s what&#8217;s happening,\u2019\u201d she says.\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_21-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> Along with helping her with resources, Shepherd says they gave her invaluable advice: \u201cThat Jeffrey, in his body, is completely fine; that he will make it through. He&#8217;s smarter than what he&#8217;s being given credit for, and he\u2019s protected.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_23-0\" class=\"comp mntl-sc-block mntl-sc-block-html\"> There\u2019s also value in opening up about your parenting experiences, something Shepherd does on her talk show.
