It is a time dedicated to increasing understanding of the disease, supporting those affected and raising funds for vital research and care services.<\/p>\n<p>Organiser, Angela MacShane, has hosted the lunch every October for years. The event brings together past and present patients as well as anyone associated with the hospitals\u2019 breast units.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all meet up once a year and have a lovely afternoon of lunch, raffles and bingo. It\u2019s just a lovely get-together,\u201d Angela said. \u201cA lot of women walked in as strangers, but we\u2019ve all left as friends. We\u2019ve built up lovely relationships and have known each other for years. In addition, we\u2019re raising money for the hospital\u2019s breast units. If we want the best equipment for our patients, we have to pay for it and that\u2019s the reality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Angela also urged women to check their breasts regularly.
